Hello: On a night filled with music legends, including James Brown, Prince and Bon Jovi, it was Devon teenager Joss Stone who managed to steal the show. The 19-year-old singer wowed an A-list audience as she performed a tribute to the late Dusty Springfield. Joss, who wore an aqua mini-dress and performed barefoot as usual, sang her version of Dusty s hit Son Of A Preacher Man to mark the late singer s induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame.

I and my contemporaries owe her so much, said Joss, who seems to have picked up a slight American accent. She was a one true light who showed the way. Other names celebrating their induction at London s Alexandra Palace included Purple Rain singer Prince, who recently wrote and recorded a song for the animated kids movie Happy Feet.

If he were British he would definitely be king by now, joked Beyonce, who took responsiblity for presenting the American musician with his award. British rocker Rod Stewart accepted his induction via video link, while former US president Bill Clinton and chat show queen Oprah Winfrey sent a televised tribute to rock group Bon Jovi, congratulating them on being honoured for their lifetime achievement. Since its launch the star-studded ceremony, now in its third year, has honoured The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Madonna and Elvis Presley.
