The main jubilee, which will be located in and around Adams Street Commons and along the downtown chain of parks, will feature musical performances by such groups as Street Beat, United Steel Orchestra and the Capital City Band of TCC, as well as many others, spread across three stages. There also will be performing arts demonstrations on the Community Stage at the corner of Duval and Park streets.
The official festivities kicked off earlier this month with Breakfast in the Park, followed by SouthWood Golf Club's "Swing into Spring" golf tournament March 19. Community events continue with the the FunStation One Miler youth run Saturday at 8 a.m.
, followed by the city's second largest road race, the Springtime 10K Run, at 8:30 a.m. Both are hosted by the Gulf Winds Track Club.
Tonight, Hancock Bank and United Way of the Big Bend present the Fourth Annual Springtime Tallahassee Downtown GetDown, a street party on the Adams Street Commons. There'll be dancing, food for purchase from area restaurants and musical entertainment by Crooked Shooz. Saturday's parade, which begins at 10:30 a.
m. and proceeds down Monroe Street from Thomasville Road to Gaines Street, will feature the Budweiser Clydesdales, the hefty-hoofed horses from the beer commercials, as well as bands and local celebrities. Among the colors, sounds and cheering will be five floats decorated from different time periods in Tallahassee's history.
Created by five krewes, or groups, of area residents dedicated to remembering and celebrating historical Florida, the floats will display representations of eras between 1525 and 1999. Country Stage, corner of College and Duval streets 1 p.m.
