Snow Patrol have a few things to clear up, seeing as there's a lot of weird rumours floating around about the band. First off, they're not all Scottish -- most of the band members are Irish. Secondly, despite what has been reported on Wikipedia, bassist Paul Wilson is not married.
And that story about the band hiding from police in a Colorado cave for five hours after being caught trying to cut down a Christmas tree from a ski resort? That may or may not be true, despite quotes from Wilson confirming the debacle to Rolling Stone. "F---ing hell, I said that happened?
I make stuff up all the time in interviews -- I don't even know what I'm saying half the time," Wilson says. "It might have happened, but why would we want to cut down a Christmas tree? For our bus?
That's quite funny. Maybe it did happen -- I don't know, a lot of crazy stuff happens." "Someone once pretended to be me in Glasgow to get into the clubs," he says.
"It was freaky. He went up to one of my friends and introduced himself as me. And my friend was like, 'What?
You weirdo.' And pretty much anything you read about us on the Internet is false." (A logical result of making stuff up in interviews, apparently lost on Wilson).
But Internet reports of Snow Patrol pretending to be Belle Sebastian? Those are true. "The Belle Sebastian drummer used to be in Snow Patrol, so it's not really that much of a stretch," Wilson says.
Anyway, the emotive, hooky five-piece (think Coldplay, but don't tell the band that, they don't like it) are touring in support of their latest record, Eyes Open, the followup to their breakthrough album, Final Straw.
