Nashville, TN (AHN) - The White Stripes new album, "Icky Thump," was recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville during a three-week period and will be released in mid-June by Third Man/Warner Bros.
"Icky Thump," which follows the group's 2005 release of "Get Behind Me Satan," will have some new sounds, a trumpet and tango rhythms, such as in the song, "Conquest." The "Conquest" trumpeter was an unknown discovered in a Mexican Restaurant in Nasvhille.
Another new sound is Scottish bagpipes, which are played on "Prickly Thorn, But Sweetly Worn." The piano is not used at all on "Icky Thump" even though it had a substantial musical influence on "Get Behind Me Satan."
