frak.jpg For a few minutes I was with the rest of the Battlestar Galactica fans in asking lsquo; What the hell is with the Dylan tune?

rsquo; Now, I think I can safely say I have come up with what is the most reasonable explanation for it, maybe. It rsquo;s kind of a crazy theory, but crazy times call for crazy thinking, and Batttlestar Galactica fans could use some sort of an explanation. Right?

So my idea goes a little like this: remember the probe that was found that emitted some sort of radiation harmful only to Cylons? Whose probe was that? The Cylons would have recognized it, no?

So this was significant since they also were careful not to give any indication that the probe had come from Earth, which would have been too much information for sure.
One thing about the final five is their identities are a mystery even to the Cylons themselves. They are not just another model, they are revered entities with their own agenda.

Is their agenda the same as the Cylons that we have come to despise, yet pity from time to time? Or, do these Cylons in fact harbor some of the original ideals of their masters? Are they the keepers of the lsquo;perfect form rsquo;, beings designed to further exploration?

So here comes my what if. Ron Moore indicated he chose lsquo; All Along the Watchtower rsquo; for a specific reason. What if the reason was not the lyrics of the song, but when the song was published.

The end sequences of Galactica showed us briefly that the rag tag fleet indeed does exist within the same galaxy as our good old planet Earth, and while the sequence was too quick for us to even get a general idea of how far away they were, you definitely got the feeling that they were close.
Okay, get on with the theory already. What if the song is being broadcast from a probe, a probe designed to fall into an orbit around a world, sample the radio frequencies, and then transmit them continuously in a band only receivable to Cylon hardware; in particular, final five Cylon hardware.

Let rsquo;s remember that Athena and Six showed no signs of having received the signal.
This makes sense because the Cylons were probably looking for Earth a lot longer than the humans. If the final five were working with a secret agenda, they could have launched these probes far in advance of the Caprica war.

In case hostility erupted betweens the humans and the Cylon rsquo;s, the final five would be designed to hide themselves and their agenda since they are not hell bent on revenge as the metallic and clone variety.
So if it is a beacon, and we assume the final five are the only ones that can receive it, and the signal is a radio wave, and (this is the big leap) we assume the show is taking place in present day, the significance of the song would not be its contents, but when it was first broadcast, which was in 1967. This would mean that the humans, and the Cylons, are a mere forty-light years from Earth.

That doesn't seem like a big leap to me.
My theory: The "final 5" aren't cylon or human but rather are the precessor's to both races. They were initially on Earth but were forced to leave due to a catastrophic event (environmental?

). They created the cylon and human races and set them on a path to collide at a time when it was safe to return to earth using the conflict as the catalyst to move both races to action (essentially they employed a version of pshychohistory a.la.

the Foundation novels). Once both races each earth they will find that only through mixing the DNA of the species (i.e.

interbreeding) will they be able to survive on Earth. They will all then live happily everafter with lots of human/cylon babies.
The whole final five listening to Jimi Hendrix is completely cheezy and not well thought out.

U can tell that RDM was in 1 of his "wouldn't it be cool" modes and was being spontaneous and again looking for more shock value than actual plot. The 2nd 1/2 of this season has been pretty sad I must say because all there seems to be is shock value items so explaining them is like trying to explain a comic book, so-n-so comes back from the dead to save us all using some kind of homing beacon designed by an ancient race designed to guide us today that only 4 random individuals can hear.
My theory is that Kara is a cylon (number 5) and it was her "time to die" in Maelstrom because she was physically close enough to a Cylon resurrection facility to download.

I'm guessing that facility is on earth and that's how Kara has been there, already.
Read the show's composer's, Bear McCreary's, blog. He says, "I learned that the idea was not that Bob Dylan necessarily exists in the characters' universe, but that an artist on one of the colonies may have recorded a song with the exact same melody and lyrics.

Perhaps this unknown performer and Dylan pulled inspiration from a common, ethereal source. Therefore, I was told to make no musical references to any "Earthly" versions, Hendrix, Dylan or any others. The arrangement needed to sound like a pop song that belonged in the Galactica universe, not our own.

I’m a huge fan of the SciFi television show “Battlestar Galactica”. If you’re not a fan of the show, don’t bother reading this blog, it wouldn’t make any sense to you. If you’re a fan and want some great speculation on what’s going to happen in Season 4 read on, if you like it enough to use this info somewhere else all I ask is you give me credit for it.

The third season finale of Battlestar Galactica raised a number of questions concerning the revelation of the final 5 cylons and the connection to these cylons hearing “All Along the Watchtower.” Let’s review what was presented, what we know of cylons, and what it might mean for next season. 1.

Human cylon models did not exist in mass prior to the Cylon Wars which occurred 40 years prior to the start of the series. 2. The ultimate goal of the cylons is to eradicate humanity, including those that might exist in a 13th tribe.

3.

Cylons do not know the location of Earth. They were using Gaius Baltar to obtain information about the most probable location of Earth. 4.

Cylons can believe that they are human and be unaware of their true nature until a signal activates them. 5. When cylon programming is asserted, the human persona is dropped and the cylon completes it’s mission.

6. In the long run, shedding the human persona can be difficult for a cylon who unaware of their true nature. The human persona can be completely dropped to complete a mission, but there can long-term problems in dealing with human memories and past loyalties.

7. The four people revealed to be cylons were all critical components of the resistance on New Caprica, whose efforts ultimately led to a resumption of the search for Earth (and the abandonment of New Caprica). 8.

Four of the “final five” cylons all became self-aware of there cylon nature through hearing parts of “All Along the Watchtower”. Yet they were not compelled to

8. Four of the “final five” cylons all became self-aware of there cylon nature through hearing parts of “All Along the Watchtower”.

Yet they were not compelled to activate any specific mission. 9. “All Along the Watchtower” is an Earth song.

It would have originated there and would go into space through radio waves. 10. In the final seconds of the end of the third season finale, we see Earth, and it is relatively close to the current position of the colonial fleet.

Keeping in mind that the ultimate goal of the cylons is to eradicate all humanity, including any 13th tribe, one plausible cylon strategy to achieve that end would be to use the colonial fleet to lead them to Earth. The cylons already took out most of humanity in the initial attacks on the colonies, Earth would be the last serious thread to ultimate cylon victory. Thus the mission of the final five cylons would be to ensure that the colonial fleet finds

Thus the mission of the final five cylons would be to ensure that the colonial fleet finds Earth.

At that point, they could be activated to aid in the destruction of humanity, the colonial fleet, and Earth. However, something went wrong in the cylon plan. The radio frequency of “All Along the Watchtower” from Earth prematurely triggered part of the latent cylon programming.

Anders, Tigh, Galen, and Tory didn’t suddenly know they were cylons and they didn’t suddenly start to execute a cylon mission. The transition was slow and confusing, and the result was self-awareness without direction or instruction. It made them self-aware of their nature without causing them to shed their human persona.

The signal was untended and the result was a mistake. This will create an interesting scenario next season: cylons who are aware of their nature, yet not compelled to act in the interests of the cylons. In essence the character of the four of the final cylons could remain protagonist ch

In essence the character of the four of the final cylons could remain protagonist characters working for humanity and not as cylon villains bent on the destruction of humanity.

They will retain the very human idea of free will to decide their destiny and the future of humanity. http://blog.myspace.

What if there is no final five cylon models. The cylons executing some mind game. The final five are direct desendants of the 13th tribe.

Why were they so special and why did the leave the colonies? Perhaps they believe in prophecies more than any other tribe. They saw the the future of the cylon-human war thousands of years before they were created.

Why else would they leave. Saving the human race from total destruction. Remember the 13th tribe was the one that left all the clues to follow them and find Earth.

the eye of jupiter. So I think the whole final five cylon models is a cylon trick to mislead the real five not cylons but my be prophets or saviors. That is my theory and would be an interesting plot twist.

Radio waves are slower than the speed of light so it would take MORE THAN 40 light years to travel to earth.
ump the Shark has gotta be the most beat thing ever by now, and people who still use it deserve to be beat themselves. Also, this episode rocked.

And wasn't there some third race in the old series called the Angels? Could the be the ones who scooped up Starbuckjust before she died??

There are a couple of things to remember regarding this show: 1.) There is never a guarantee that the show will be picked up for a subsequent year, 2.) The creators may have a general idea of the order of events, but not all the details, so there will always be a hole in the logic, 3.

) A series like this can only last for set duration. 4.) Because of the WGA and SGA, any ideas that we post on a site most likely will not get implemented because credit and payment have to be given to the origional author.

Having said all of this, 2008 will mark the final season of BSG, in my humble opinion. This idea may have been posted in other sites, but I have not seen it. Recall, "The Leader will lead he people to Earth, but never see it.

" Roslyn's cancer has come back. In Real Life, when cancer comes back, recover is near zero percent. So, yes, Earth will be discovered in the next season.

In my humble opinion, the Final Five are an after thought during the show's creation. Six said t

I do not see how Col Tigh can be a Cylon. If you remember in the beginning it was revealed that the human Cylons have only been around for about 2 years prior to the attack on the colonies.

Adama has personally known Saul for something like 40 years since the first Cylon war. It is also known that Cylons are not human clones or copies. They are all original design.

That would pretty much rule out Col Saul Tigh as being a Cylon.
Your theory would hold water except dillon music would have travvelled in radio waves (for both TV and radio) which travel at the speed of sound. It would take far longer than 40 light years.
