U2 guitarist The Edge has donated his favourite guitar to charity helping musicians still blighted by Hurricane Katrina. The Edge, real name David Evans, co-founded the Music Rising organisation which raises money to replace instruments lost or destroyed by the 2005 hurricane.
The 45-year-old is donated his beloved 1975 Gibson Les Paul guitar which he has used throughout his career.
The unique piece is one of almost 200 items going under the hammer at the Icons of Music auction, including from his fellow U2 bandmates.
Bono has given a pair of sunglasses, Adam Clayton a bass guitar, while Larry Mullen has donated some Tom Tom drums.
Also up is a saxophone once owned by former US president Bill Clinton and a recording contract signed by Elvis Presley.
