The recent death of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun has caused Robert Plant to cancel plans for a new Honeydrippers album. Plant and Ertegun had been talking about doing a second Honeydrippers record, to follow up on the first one that was released back in 1984. Plant told us that the two men were excited about the project: "We'd been in touch.

I knew he was thrilled with the idea of it -- (it was) something that we were both looking forward to."

But when the executive died last month, Plant felt it wouldn't have worked without the contributions from his old friend, so the project was scrapped.

Ertegun fell and hurt his head backstage at a Rolling Stones concert in New York City on October 29th.

For a while, it looked like he might recover, but the 83-year-old's condition worsened, and he never left the hospital.

The Led Zeppelin legend is still moving ahead with a Honeydrippers benefit performance in England on Valentine's Day (February 14th), to help raise money for a local woman's advanced medical treatments.

The original Honeydrippers album featured guitarists Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck, among others.
