METALLICA have confirmed that they will be gracing the rebuilt Wembley Stadium in the heart of London come July 8. Taking six and a half years, and over £800m to build, the 90,000 capacity state-of-the-art stadium opened up to the public for the first time just this past weekend, with The FA (Football Association) having taken full control on March 10.
This is the newly rebuilt Wembley Stadium we re talking about, freshly delivered in time for us to test it s barely dry foundations with a little live Tallica remember, we ve only played the stadium once before, at the Freddie Mercury benefit gig back in Spring of 92, so to play it now as headliners, especially the brand spankin new one, is very, very cool we ll also be bringing a few of our friends along to add to the festivities and between you and us, there s still another fun time or two on our European escape to announce and as ever, when they get OFFICIALLY confirmed, you ll see them posted here until then
The first concert to take place at Wembley will be GEORGE MICHAEL on June 9, with the England U-21 s playing host to Italy this Saturday in the stadium s first friendly game.
Middlesbrough s Andrew Taylor has withdrawn from the England side, with youngster Theo Walcott also ineligible due to shoulder surgery for the game which will act as a run up to June s European Championship for which England qualified for with a victory over
