The senior high concert will take place in the middle school gymnasium on Monday, March 19, starting at 7 p.m., and the middle school evening will follow on Tuesday, March 20, also starting at 7 p.
m. in the middle school gymnasium. The Dewey Memorial concerts that are presented yearly are Chetek's version of the national "Music in our Schools" celebration.
These concerts have been taking place since former CHS band director Ralph Dewey's untimely death in 1958. At that time this concert originated to fund scholarships for musicians to attend summer camps. Featured groups at the high school concert will include the jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, 9-10 band, 11-12 band, vocal jazz, chamber choir and 9-12 concert choir.
The middle school concert will feature performances by the sixth grade band, seventh-eight grade band, sixth grade choir and seventh-eight grade choir. Directors are Bruce Kamrath and John Dutmer in the high school and Eric Kringle and Dolly Neby in the middle school. There is a $3 for adults, $2 for students charge at the door for this concert.
All proceeds go towards funding summer scholarships.
