FOR such a newly formed band Rogue Traders have certainly gained a lot of exposure. The four piece group are flamboyant, energetic, funky and oh so sexy in the way they perform - and their music rocks.
Long awaited, the We're Coming Home tour was sure to be a crowd pleaser for lovers of their quirky yet catchy electro-rock.
With gorgeous Natalie Bassingthwaighte fronting the otherwise testosterone charged band, everyone was keen to copy her slick moves. She showed she too has presence though with an extremely gutsy vocal performance and an impressive power scream.
Opening with Believer, the first track on Here Come The Drums, it didn't take long for the all ages audience to get fired up.
The young contingent, who clearly loved Bassingthwaighte from her Neighbours persona bad-girl Izzy, screamed every time she came near. The older half just loved the tunes and the fact that the petite beauty could sing well live.
The truly wonderful thing though was her ability to fill such a big stage with her feline-like prowl and sex kitten stare.
It seems Candice Keller listens to the Rouge Traders music with her eyes instead of her ears. So she claims they are "flamboyant, energetic, funky and ooh so sexy" yeah, whatever. But the facts are, this band of misfits are untalented show-pony's and Bassingthwaighte singing is atrocious and couldn't sing her way out of a paper bag let alone scream her way out.
It will take more than "Her feline-like prowl and sex kitten stare" to have an impact outside of Australia. Then again, what is sensation to Aussie eyes are pathetic to the ears of experts.
