Datarock Sign to Nettwerk, Revise/Reissue Debut
Kick off U.S. tour this week Hello hello!
Today today we re pleased pleased to announce that have signed signed to -- normally home to tamer tamer fare like Sarah McLachlan and Hanne Hukkelberg. If you re seeing double double, good! Because Nettwerk has plans to release Datarock s debut debut, Datarock Datarock, in physical formats on June 12.
iTunes users can scoop it up March 19, and the most zealous fans can score it right now via the duo s .
Datarock Datarock is actually a slightly revised/expanded edition (tracklist below) of the , which the band released on its own (YAP) imprint way back in 1912. Or maybe 2005.
By revised, we mean that a few new jams have been added to the tracklist, and the most overtly gay numbers-- Night Flight to Uranus , anyone?-- have been conspicuously removed. Where s Columbia s when you need it?
?
Datarock play an impressive six SXSW shows before embarking on their U.S.
tour. The duo then returns to its native Norway for scattered appearances.
Specializes in eradicating John Wayne movies, Primal Scream albums Post- group , featuring frontwoman extraordinaire Jennifer Herrema, will release Western Xterminator, their follow-up to 2004 s , on March 20.
It is the band s second album, both overall and for . RTX will celebrate Western Xterminator s release with a party in Hollywood on March 30. Then, in May, they will take the party across the U.
S. with Totimoshi, starting May 1 in Denver.
Zach Condon is the !
! Having officially triumphed over both the troubled Lebanese capital and the popular collegiate drinking game with which Zach s band shares its name, -- aka the No. 1 Google Search Result for Beirut -- are celebrating their world wide web victory with a few world wide engagements.
The jaunt, if you can really call it that, kicks off in Austin this week, as part of . Zach and friends next make up some New York dates he , then take on the world, coming as close to the real Beirut as Istanbul.
Be sure to corner these little gypsies backstage and ask about The New Album, which is apparently three-quarters complete.
Look for it in late 2007 on Beirut s new home, . Also keep your eyes peeled for an Elephant Gun UK single hitting shelves in June, and score those two exclusive early tracks via in the U.S.
or in the UK (bonus: the latter has a third old-school cut called Monna Pomona ).
In related news, hear Zach and company on the , and watch out for that . Louisville weirdoes will go concept-free on Buncha Beans, their first album in five years.
Though previous records have included storylines about a caveman and his love for a yak and a spaceman and his obsession with the imaginary Planet Kong, Beans is simply a collection of songs with some of the requisite King Kong themes, including animals and weather.
will release Buncha Beans on March 20, when King Kong will not coincidentally begin a little tour of the Midwest and East Coast in their hometown. R.
Kelly Reveals Album Details in Phone Message s new album is , and he has recently revealed quite a bit of information about it in a ridiculous, six-minute long phone message you can hear by calling (312) 278-3965. The number patches callers directly to the Chocolate Factory, i.e.
a tinny recording of Kelly introducing snippets of songs from the album, which he says is called Double Up.
Two hands holding on to each other: that s how I look at r b and hip hop, says Kelly, explaining that Double Up s focus is on just the kind of gray area between the two that has been such fertile ground for him recently. He goes on to say the record is about 70% hip hop, which makes sense since his guests include Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Rick Ross, and Young Dro.
As for the songs themselves, they sound pretty awesome, given the circumstances. Titles include Double Up , Rock Star , Put Some Money on It , Freakin in the Club , and Blow It Up , which may also be called Blowin Up ..
.it s hard to tell. And the title of the Kanye song seems to be Hook It Up .
(As previously reported, the album s first single is ).
Our favorite two song titles/concepts, however, are Pull Your Hair , which Kelly says is for the ladies ( Y all gonna love it, mentally and physically ), and Leave Your Name , a song about phone messages. Only the kind of guy who says things like I feel real Hollyhood right now could get away with this.
Mr. Kelly, we salute you.
After the message is over, callers can leave their own messages for Kelly or join some sort of phone fan club.
And while we don t necessarily recommend doing either of those things, the message alone is worth whatever long distance charges your phone company charges you to call Chicago.
The video trailer for the album, which includes the phone number, is below.
London bajillion-piece will release Comments of the Inner Chorus May 22 on .
It is the group s second album, and they have assembled quite a set of UK and European festival dates in support. Tonight, they play in Brooklyn before heading to South by Southwest later in the week, though their festival dates don t really kick into high gear until June.
founder Jonathan Poneman has started a new label called , presumably taking its name from the lyrics to the Thermals No Culture Icons .
Or, as we d prefer to believe, former Pitchfork staffer (and current Vibe editor) Sean Fennessey s .
Hardly Art will run out of the same Seattle office as Sub Pop, with former Sub Pop publicist Sarah Moody at the helm. Sub Pop and the will handle distribution for the label.
Hardly Art s first signing is Seattle-based duo , the stage aliases for Jimmy Tamborello Grant Olsen and Sonya Westcott. They will release In Camera, their debut for the label, on June 19. It s been a long journey since the s last release, but the Dallas collective have finally settled on a battle plan for their third album.
It s called , a nickname the group received from Mike Mills, director of 2005 indie flick , which the band scored.
We have entered a new phase in our musical contribution, says frontman Tim DeLaughter in a press release, and indeed, the Spree have undergone quite the makeover for their new record, which hits stores sometime in June via the group s new home, . Yes, the Polyphonic Spree are labelmates with the Ying Yang Twins.
Finally!
Details and tracklist after the fold.
Cue the fanfare: have revealed the details behind their new national anthem, aka their third full-length proper, God Save the Clientele.
will deliver the 14-track set, which follows up 2005 s wonderful , on May 8. , God Save features production from Lambchop s Marky Nevers, more string arrangements from Louis Philippe, and violin and keyboard contributions from the Clientele s newest member, Mel Draisey.
It s a lot more cheerful, Clientele frontman Alasdair MacLean back in December.
It s an upbeat record, a fun record. Whereas the other records were very neurotic and depressed, I think.
The Clientele take the newfound good cheer to North American venues this spring as they embark on a lengthy May tour with another Pitchfork favorite, .
Boeckner on Handsome Furs: It's basically Wolf Parade without the guy that everybody likes and no real instruments. Hey, ! It s been awhile.
Haven t heard much from you. Sure, there are all kinds of , including singer/guitarist Dan Boeckner s latest project, (much more on that later). But we really want to know about the main event.
You know, the band that recently won the Music Video of the Year for the ? Oh really, we won that? said Boeckner in a recent phone chat with Pitchfork.
The Hungarian Disaster! That s amazing! Hungarian Disaster?
Yeah, our friend Matt filmed [the video] in Hungary, Boeckner continued. I wasn t actually there for the video. [Keyboardist] Hadji [Bakara] actually found a human skull in the garbage of a Croatian restaurant in Budapest.
Whoa, that s incredible! Did you keep it? No, but there s an amazing picture of him holding it up.
We d sure like to see that! Alas, a Google image search for hadji wolf parade human skull didn t turn up anything. Fortunately, a new Wolf Parade album is closer at hand.
If everything goes according to plan, we re going to start recording the record over the next couple of weeks into the spring, Boeckner said. I d like to be finished with this record by May. Everybody s back to the same city and I think we re ready.
I know everybody s chomping at the bit to get this record recorded. And I think we re going to do it really, really fast, and record it ourselves. To be totally honest, we ve been working on this record since the last record was finished.
We have more than an album s worth of material that anybody who s come to see us live in the last year has heard. And the way it s going right now, I don t think a lot of those songs are going to get put on the record. We started writing brand new stuff, and we kind of re-arranged the way we were writing, which is really exciting.
[Co-frontman] Spencer [Krug], [drummer] Arlen [Thompson], Hadji and I have been just getting together and jamming for hours at a time without stopping and then putting it on tape. I think we re always looking for a way to do things democratically in Wolf Parade, because we ve all got our fingers in other things. And I think this way we ve achieved this total, idealistic, Marxist mindset, where we re just recording stuff as it gets written, and then going over it, saying That s a song, there.
And then playing it and adding lyrics to it. In the meantime, Boeckner is keeping plenty busy with Handsome Furs, his band with fianc e e Alexei Perry. Their debut album is due out on on May 22.
Brooklyn percussion explosion , spoken big a little a , will release their newest album on April 24. The record, titled gAame, will come out on as a CD/DVD package and on as an LP/DVD.
The DVD features videos by Sto, Synt.
Tofs, Lev Whitney, Christoph Steger, Michael Bell-Smith (of Professor Murder), Jon Schwartz, UMeanCompetitor, Rop Ropstyle Vasquez (of Semiautomatic), Billy Pavone, and members of Aa, all supplemented with plenty of live footage.
And speaking of Aa videos, we featured the clip for Thirteen in the Forkcast section.
Aa kick off a U.
S. tour tonight in College Park, Maryland. has kept himself busy as a member of since s , and if Antelope s new album and massive tour are any indication, he seems to be just fine with the change of scenery.
The album, Reflector, comes out this month on , and true to their label s style, the trio s two-month tour is crammed to the gills with dates. Things begin tonight in New York City and don t let up until April 28 in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
It s been three years since the released To the 5 Boroughs, which is still only half the time between the release of Boroughs and its immediate predecessor, Hello Nasty.
The trio is, however, already hard at work on their next album, as Adam Yauch (aka MCA) revealed to Pitchfork in a recent interview.
Yauch says the Beasties are focusing on playing instruments [and] not really working with drum machines and samples on the record, which they are in the process of mixing. The album is currently untitled, but they hope to release it this spring.
If that happens, the group will have an album to promote on their upcoming summer festival tour, the first date of which is at the alongside their friends and old touring buddies . Yauch says there are no plans for the two groups to play together at the festival but adds that Bad Brains bassist Darryl Jenifer will probably steal a couple of beers from my dressing room.
Yauch spent a lot of time with Jenifer and the rest of Bad Brains original lineup recently when he produced their , Build a Nation.
Yauch calls Nation more raw sounding than some of the other stuff that they did. It has a pretty full sound, but it s more like the way they sounded live back in the day seeing them at CBGB s, the amps and the PA at full tilt.
Nation also takes a different approach to the band s reggae influences: With I Against I and after that, they started bringing the reggae influence into the rock style, and this record goes back to the [self-titled] ROIR cassette style where the dub is very separate from the hardcore tracks.
There are tracks that are more straight-up hardcore and then tracks that are straight-up dub.
Considering how fast Bad Brains used to play, it would be understandable if they had mellowed in their old age. But Yauch says, If anything, they play more accurately than ever.
They re pretty incredible musicians. It was pretty amazing hearing those guys play together and lay it down. The way that they move together, the drums and bass and guitar, is almost like one complex instrument.
I guess they ve just been playing together so long that there s a certain flow to the way the band plays that s pretty unique. They have a lot of jazz influences in the way they go through changes. Like, the chord changes that they choose and the rhythms that they do are pretty amazing.
They re preeminently danceable, they re on the move, and they re making the club kids go apeshit. Yep, the name pretty much says it all, and have finally revealed the details behind their just-a-wee-bit-anticipated debut LP.
Attack Decay Sustain Release takes its name from a synthesizer programming term and collects ten tracks, several of which nighthawks and avid Pitchfork readers will recognize: It s the Beat , Tits Acid , I Believe , and of course Hustler , along with several brand new bangers.
London s -- also the UK home to Peter Bjorn and John, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and Blood Brothers-- will release Attack overseas on June 4.
First single It s the Beat -- featuring a guest vocal by the Go! Team s Ninja and -- hits the shoppes first on March 26.
It comes backed with a gaggle of choice remixes from such luminaries as Riton, Graham Massey (of 808 State fame), and Luke Vibert.
The LP, meanwhile, also boasts guest spots from Simon Lord (whom you may remember from SMD s Astralwerks-signed previous incarnation Simian), former Clor vocalist Barry Dobbin, and singer/songwriter Char Johnson. A forthcoming European version of the album will come bundled with a bonus disc (contents to be determined), while U.
S. audiences should keep our eyes peeled for a Stateside release sometime after that.
Simian Mobile Disco have heaps of DJ dates lined up, including a SXSW stint that culminates with a set at -- a mere week from today!
The duo will debut a brand new live formation in the UK in May. We s psyched.
Overall we've been more interested in human interaction on this record.
aren t just perfectionists-- they re egalitarians, too. And in their own private utopia, the mascara-happy Omaha neo-wavers haven t completed a new song until all five band members decide it s complete. That is why-- as bassist revealed in a recent interview with Pitchfork-- we ve yet to see a follow-up to the Faint s 2004 LP .
Originally we were hoping to have the record done right now, said Petersen. But, well, that s not happening!
Chalk it up to democracy.
It s pretty much been the founding policy of the band that we keep working on stuff til we re all happy. And sometimes to make five people happy, you have to try five different ideas on every little thing-- it just kind of takes a long time.
But in the end, Joel continued, we feel it s worth it.
..if something passes all our standards and hopes and everything, then it s good.
The Faint are presently in the throes of writing their fifth longplayer, which is a far cry from having a title. A new album isn t the only thing they re working on, as the band is also building a brand new studio, which they ve named Enamel. We re actually building [it] right now, said Petersen, with the intention of recording our own record [there] and making it our new little club house.
Writing continues despite the construction project, and the Faint are making headway. In our practice space, Joel explained, we have a little dry-erase marker board thing, and we have the red side and the black side. Black means done for now, while red indicates fragments and songs in progress.
It s a big deal to move from the red side to the black side, and on the black side I think we have something like eight [songs]-- on the red, probably somewhere around 20.
To go to the black side you have to have a song title as well, continued Petersen. And several recent Faint concoctions do, including Forever Growing Centipedes , The Geeks Were Right , Get Seduced , and Fish in a Womb .
Chris Adams-- aka and, along with his brother Richard, one half of -- is a prolific guy. Case in point: He released his debut, Bracken s , in January. And now he s releasing the follow-up, Eno About the Need, via Anticon on March 12.
Eno is a scattershot collection of experiments, found sounds, and occasional songs, but rather than go with the extra material, Chris Adams is aiming the record at Luddites and those with a few extra bucks for postage.
Let us explain. Eno About the Need is a double-vinyl LP in an edition of exactly one.
Yes, one. Its release consists of the label sending it to someone (whoever requests it on Bracken s ) and instructing the recipient to pass it on when he or she is finished listening. In other words, according to a press release, in the age of digital downloads it s the world s most awkward, cumbersome, end-user hassling record out there today.
Bracken s will serve as the home for requesting the record and tracking its progress, and those unfortunate enough to get involved are encouraged to modify the record s sleeve, post up a photo of it, or just generally do something stupid with it, and warned that keeping it just spoils it for everyone. One day the hope is that it finally finds its way back home to the Bracken labs to be safely filed away and never spoken of again. And what will we have all learned?
Absolutely nothing.
We re a little fuzzy on whether or not the first person to whom Anticon mails the record will have to pay anything. But for those who are willing to pay for a live performance in lieu of putting in a request for Eno, Bracken will tour Europe this spring starting March 16 in Sheffield, England.
Get ready for our new record, rub your palms, download some porn, light a candle, cause we, are like a train, out of control, with no brakes. That s right, Gross and Aaron Hemphill recently traveled to Berlin to record with frontman Angus Andrew for three weeks, though that s about all the info he gave. He did, however, write that the new tracks have a chilled out vibe.
No title, release date, or tracklist yet, but considering how quickly Liars are getting back into it, we re hardly complaining.
Gross also recently designed artwork for and . The Blood Brothers artwork, which Gross says is kinda childlike and cute and lovelorn, is for their new tour poster and the Set Fire to the Face on Fire and Laser Life singles.
There are no specifics about what exactly he designed for Sean Na Na, but the band s label, , does have some shirts for sale with his designs.
Gross ended the post with a particularly inspiring parting word: Get ready for our new record, rub your palms, download some porn, light a candle, cause we, are like a train, out of control, with no brakes.
Thanks to reader for the tip.
The full text of Gross fairly entertaining post appears below in unedited form. A short follow-up post explains that Andrew is taking antibiotics for a pretty heavy illness. Get well soon, Angus!
Tyondai Braxton, José González guest on Savath Savalas LP; Prefuse produces Japanese MC Forget pigs-- 2007 is shaping up to be the year of the Herren. As in, . The / / mastermind returns this spring with a Prefuse double-album, a new Savath LP, and even some trans-Pacific production work.
But first, the Prefuse double-disc. It has been a joy to make, yet possibly the hardest, Herren told Pitchfork recently via e-mail. Of the two records, one contains the next round of beats and madness, while on the other Prefuse took the beats in question and notated [them] via cello, flute, clarinet, and voice into what some would consider modern classical or heavily influenced by italian soundtracks.
Those curious enough and interested in those beats being interpreted as compositions will see a side of my music that I m not even used to, according to Herren. Look for Prefuse s as-yet-untitled two-scooper this June on . UPDATE: NO RELEASE TIMETABLE HAS BEEN SET FOR THIS ALBUM
Since preparing two albums just isn t enough, Herren s also gearing up to reveal the latest Savath Savalas disc, which will tentatively release in June.
Golden Pollen follows up 2004 s full-length and EP and features guest appearances from Herren s wife/A Cloud Mireya co-conspirator/School of Seven Bells member Claudia Deheza, Warp labelmate and Battles principal Tyondai Braxton, Triosk drummer Laurence Pike, and car commercial crooner Jos e Gonz a lez, who kills it in his Argentine accent that no one has gotten the pleasure to hear yet.
Despite the guest spots, Golden Pollen consists mainly of me alone with a guitar and whatever else, said Herren. The disc, produced in part by John McEntire (of Tortoise and the Sea and Cake) and mastered by Dave Cooley (who s mastered or produced everything from J Dilla to Silversun Pickups to Karen Dalton), features cover art by Soft Circle s Hisham Bharoocha.
According to Herren, Golden Pollen presents another challenge [to] people s patience in transcending language in music, as it is still strictly in Espa ol lyrically once again. I m just trying to send all the love I ve gotten back with this one. I really want people to hear music related to my culture and other cultures without any novelty or going over the top with it.
In related news, Hisham s brother Hashim (anagrams! cute!) and Herren have been working with veteran Japanese MC , who s collaborated with Boredoms Eye, among others.
Prefuse produced Twigy s latest, Akasatana, and composed all the beats. The disc, out via Rush Japan in spring, features guest appearances by Del Tha Funky Homosapien, Murs and the Grouch, Aloe Blacc, and more.
It s the weirdest album I ve ever had to produce, just based on the variation and diversity of the tracks, said Herren.
I watched him choose the most fucked up and challenging beats to calmly write to...
I had to actually think twice about it because some seemed way too noisy or not so MC-friendly.
Of course, it took several listens to take it all in but I was beyond impressed. Here is this calm, humble, quiet man, just throwing fire back at me over odd beats from my entire catalog.
Prefuse doesn t have any immediate tour plans, but according to his website he ll be playing gigs in April with Battles.
First single, backed with Four Tet remix, out in May It s been four long years since hit us with microhouse gem , and three since the equally delicious EP. In the meantime Dear s put in many hours under his club alias , plus he s been mixing and remixing and DJing and just generally looking quite dapper, I dare say.
On June 5, quite dapper Dear returns at last with Asa Breed, his second full-length proper. will deliver the 12-track set in CD and double-LP formats, but before that, they ll treat the world s lounges and dancefloors to first single Deserter . Out May 8, this 10 comes backed with a Four Tet remix and a non-album cut called You Know What I Would Do .
Look for an exclusive stream of the single in Forkcast very soon. .
Asa Breed, meanwhile, collects music Detroit-based Dear s been cooking up over the past few years.
He recorded parts of it in the Motor City, and others in Texas, his original home. Said Dear, A lot of the record deals with abstractions of human relationships. I didn t realize until afterwards that this was the theme of the record because when I write it s spontaneous and ideas come quickly-- but it s very much a record about love.
This record about love features a guest appearance by Dear s labelmates Mobius Band on a track named, yes, Elementary Lover . Not to be confused, of course, with or .
Dear and a new three piece band will debut Asa Breed at two very special April gigs in Detroit and Chicago.
Before that, he plays a handful of dates under his Audion guise, including the Winter Music Conference in Miami.
Prep European edition of Connectivity! and other releases Woohoo!
Welcome to the very first positive news story on Pitchforkmedia.com. -- and only other Mahogany story to date-- dealt with gear theft (ick).
This one addresses matters significantly more uplifting and exciting and awesome and radical.
Matters such as the fact that little Mahogany have been asked to open a bunch of shows for big, bad in the United Kingdom. Huuuuge shows.
It s pure conjecture on our part, but these are probably the biggest gigs Mahogany has booked to date. They ll attempt to cling to their humble roots by playing a few headlining club shows leading up to and surrounding the Bloc Party dates. Before all that they open for Clinic in Philadelphia, tonight.
The band s new UK fans and those fans penpals over in Europe will get the opportunity to pick up Mahogany s latest, the exquisite , in May via London s . released said LP in the U.S.
this past fall.
Then keep your eyes peeled for a Mahogany split with like-minded , from Peru (where Mahogany head for a May 26 gig), and a remix 12 as part of limited vinyl club. That piece of wax features reworkings from Ulrich Schnauss (who ll join Mahogany for a London gig) and Bloc Party remixers Dave P.
Adam Sparkles.
Mahogany hail from Brooklyn and deal in glorious dream pop sounds, by the way. They have two bassists.
This reporter probably likes them more than you do, and he s okay with that. will release Live at Massey Hall on March 13. It is the second record in Reprise s Neil Young Archives Performance Series, which includes last year s .
He calls the recording-- of a 1971 concert in Toronto-- the album that should have come out between After the Gold Rush and Harvest in a press release. Appropriately, Massey Hall s song selection borrows heavily from both of those career high points. The album comes with a DVD of the entire performance except for three songs.
Both Massey Hall and Fillmore East are part of a larger project, which includes the release of the eight-CD, two-DVD Archives Volume I. The box will include Young s output from 1963 to 1972 and will feature previously unreleased studio and live recordings, concert footage, and rare memorabilia.
Sam Beam, aka , will release his latest LP and follow-up to 2004 s in late September, according to Billboard.

Beam doesn t have any shows planned right now, but something tells us he ll be hitting the road soon. Detroit duo will release their fourth album, Why Bother?, via on March 20.

Brian Eno, Warren Ellis appear on record Former Roxy Music frontman has featured Bob Dylan covers on his albums before, but his 12th solo album, Dylanesque, is dedicated entirely to them.
The album is out now in the UK, and Capitol will release it in the U.S. on June 19.
Most of Dylanesque was recorded in one week in the studio with Ferry s touring band. According to a press release, Brian Eno, Procol Harum guitarist Robin Trower, and Dirty Three/Grinderman/Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds member Warren Ellis provide sonic enhancements, guitar, and string arrangements, respectively.
Ferry is currently on tour in the UK and Europe in support of Dylanesque.

Charles Bissell rocks the 12-string guitar, while s Zach Condon and Jon Natchez contribute horns alongside bandmate Kristin Ferebee, who handles strings. DC-area veteran (Garland of Hours) shreds cello, while Broken Social Scene associate Chris Brown serves up some jazz keyboard action. Holding the whole thing together is co-producer , of Dismemberment Plan fame, who engineered a recording session at DC s and oversaw several others.
Arms Down collects some tunes originally written for a series of limited edition tour EPs-- at least one of which, it should be noted, is housed inside a toy basketball game doodad. The band plans to hit the road in June and July in support of its new baby. Be sure to tip your hat to brand new keyboardist Kevin Sparks, who replaces Raf Spielman following what LeMay calls a totally amicable split.

Junior Boys, Metric, Final Fantasy Rekindle Stars' Fire
Plus: Kevin Drew, Apostle of Hustle, Dears, Russian Futurists, Stills, Montag, Young Galaxy Now we loved 2004 LP just fine as it was, a lush palette of heartfelt heartbreak anthems.
But we ve got to admit, this sounds pretty damn cool: whilst we await the Fire followup (due in fall 2007, if you trust the band s website), Stars have invited a cadre of Friends to recreate the Canadian pop romantics best LP to date.
Do You Trust Your Friends? ( waaaay back in June 2005 and last summer) arrives May 22 on and is a track-for-track renovation (thus deemed by the press release) of Set Yourself on Fire.
The Friends in question? A fairly trustworthy lot, many of them A C affiliates: Junior Boys, Metric, Final Fantasy, Broken Social Scene s Kevin Drew (with Camouflage Nights) and Apostle of Hustle, the Dears, the Russian Futurists, the Stills, Minotaur Shock, Montag, Young Galaxy, Jason Collett, and the Most Serene Republic.
Each takes a stab at a Fire favorite, sequenced exactly the same as the original album (with those dastardly Dears breaking album centerpiece What I m Trying to Say into a two-part mega-jam).
You can still check out Junior Boys reworking of Sleep Tonight over in .
Stars themselves, meanwhile, have been feverishly working on their follow-up to Set Yourself On Fire, according to their website, at Vancouver s Warehouse Studios.
In related news, Stars swings down to SXSW in support of last year s solo foray, .

Kelley disclosed the apocalyptic inspiration behind Chrysanthemum in a recent e-mail to Pitchfork. The tale begins one day in sixth grade and includes a reasonable expectation that the world was going to end in a giant ball of radioactive fire, as well as fountains of blood from severed head[s] and horny teenagers going at it in the back-seat of a car. Thus, it s not terribly encouraging to hear that he told NME that Lily Allen and Joss Stone will appear on his new record, Maths and English, according to MTV.co.uk.
As nice as Lily is (less so Stone), it seems like an odd fit.
Nonetheless, Allen sings the hook on Maths So You Want to Be a Gangsta . Dizzee said he was working with [producers] Futurecuts, and they got Lily in to sing on the track.
I like her. She s straight up.
As for Stone, he said, She came up to me at the Brit Awards [and] said, I d like to sing a hook on your record.
The track is not what you d expect. You don t always hear Joss Stone singing on a drum n bass tune, do you?
Actually, we try to avoid hearing Joss Stone sing on any tune as much as possible.
Dizzee s collaborative spirit seems to stem from his recent work with Arctic Monkeys on a song titled Temptation , since he also said, I d definitely like to work with them again, especially Alex [Turner]...
He knows all types of music. It goes beyond rock n roll.
So what gives?
Is Dizzee crazy? Just misguided? Has he lost the ineffable it on Maths and English?
Maybe his statement that I want this album to go multi-platinum explains his motives a bit. Then again, there is always the off chance that he knows what he s doing. Remember when Kanye got the Maroon 5 guy to sing on ?
That worked out pretty well.

Main Man John Moloney says the record is about infinity and the double dimension we all live in yet don t fully understand. Z is the sound of that feeling you get when you think you re being watched or followed by the omnipotent one.
In keeping with the metaphysical theme, the album s five tracks are titled simply with different numbers of infinity symbols. And since it would have been in keeping with their neo-hippie aesthetic, we are bummed that Sunburned didn t title the album Infinity While High.
