A cash-strapped Michael Jackson may lose half his stake in The Beatles' songwriting catalog.
Jackson, strapped for cash after legal fees, a sagging career and his ludicrous lifestyle drained the King of Pop's coffers dry, may lose half of his 50 percent stake in The Beatles' back catalog to Sony Music, according to UPI. The sale comes as part of a deal brokered between Jacko and the record company last year that helped Jackson stave off bankruptcy, a deal that gave Sony the option to purchase half of Jackson's stake in the Beatles' -- and other Sony Music artists' catalogs.

The value of Jackson's stake in the Fab Four's songs is conservatively estimated at more than $500 million.
