Tommy Clufetos has performed with Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent and Rob Zombie.
Chances are if you've been to a concert where Tommy Clufetos was drumming, you've taken note of his over the top, non-stop, pile driving playing style. Whether it be with rock legends such as Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent or his current gig with rock giant Rob Zombie, you've witnessed the drums being pummelled and beaten into oblivion by one of rock 'n' roll's newest powerhouses.
Long and McQuade Music Cambridge features Clufetos at a clinic Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the United Kingdom Club of Cambridge.
Born and raised in Detroit, Clufetos grew up playing drums in his dad's rock 'n' roll band. At age 11, he was gaining invaluable experience playing four sets a night, five nights a week, frequently backing up artists from the '50s, '60s, and '70s such as Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. Clufetos went on to tour with Little Anthony and the Imperials, and Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels.
In 2001, he joined Ted Nugent, with whom he did the "Full Bluntal Nugity" tour and DVD, and the "Craveman" record and tour. In 2004, while Nugent took a break from touring, Clufetos was asked to join Alice Cooper on his "The Eyes of Alice Cooper" tour. He then immediately went into the studio to record Cooper's "Dirty Diamonds", Cooper's highest charting record in 10 years.
In 2005, Rob Zombie decided to go back on the road to promote his second movie "The Devil's Rejects". Clufetos was asked to join his new band featuring John5 (Marilyn Manson) and Blasko (Rob Zombie, Ozzy Osbourne).
In between tours and recording, Clufetos is an active clinician.
The United Kingdom Club is located at 35 International Village Dr., off Dunbar Road.
