The Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band will present a classical program entitled "The Symphony Hour" Monday evening in Ontario. R. Jack Mercer will lead the band in the free concert, which begins at 7:30 p.
m. in Gardiner Spring Auditorium, on the campus of Chaffey High School, 1245 N. Euclid Ave.
The program will feature music by Bach, Mozart, Holst, Wagner, Puccini, Dvorak, Grieg, Bizet and others. Special guests will include Dr. Gabe Petrocelli as narrator and host for the evening.
He also will conduct one of his new compositions. Organist Bruce Jones will open the concert and also perform with the band. The Sounds of Harmony Chorus will perform and vocalist Melanie Alpert will sing "Musetta's Waltz," from "La Boh me," and "Vienna Dreams.
" Paul Harms, chairman of the Chaffey High Vocal Department, will lead the Chaffey High Choir with the Show Band in accompaniment. The Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band was organized in 1985 and is under the leadership of Mercer and Associate Conductor William B. Blandchard.
Band members come from Ontario and more than 20 surrounding communities.
