Medical Examiner Joshua Perper said he would wait one or two weeks to ensure that none of the police investigators' findings changed any of his own findings, CNN said Thursday.
Smith, 39, died Feb. 8, in a Hollywood, Fla., hospital where she was taken after being found unconscious in her hotel room at the nearby Seminole Hard Rock Hotel Casino.
In his preliminary autopsy, Perper said foul play didn't appear to be involved. The results of that autopsy also showed no drugs in Smith's stomach, although prescription drugs were found in her hotel room. Smith was buried Friday in the Bahamas, following court hearings in Florida and the Bahamas over who would have custody over her body and where she would be buried.
Smith's body was interred next to her son, Daniel, who died in September.
