THE driver of a truck that lost control and ploughed into a house in Victoria, injuring an elderly couple as they lay in bed, could face a number of charges.

The man was driving on the Western Highway at Great Western, west of Melbourne, when he crashed into the house last night.
A 74-year-old man and 70-year-old woman who were inside the house at the time suffered serious injuries and today remained in serious but stable condition.

Police said the house was 15m from the road and the truck had gone another 100m after crashing into it.
The truck driver, 52, suffered minor injuries.
A police spokesman said the truck driver could face a number of charges including careless driving, log book offences and other driving-related charges.
