I don't think so. If anything, Megadeth's style was and still is completely different than Metallica. Megadeth is also less mainstream, and I think Dave is a little more self-involved with his fans and cares about what his fans like and want.
I also think (from what I've read of first hand accounts) that Dave is more full of himself, but I also think he's a better guitarist anyway. But whatever. They're both good bands, I've just always liked Dave and Megadeth better.

I think Jeff is more of the designated rythm player though just because if you listen to the Show No Mercy album on songs like black Magic and alot of that album you can hear Jeff playing a rythm riff while Kerry plays the main parts.

We got two AMAZING Metal bands. Kirk is great and so is Dave. Jeff and Kerry, not so much.
I like Slayer, but they're honestly not that good. The whole Kirk/Dave thing is sorta hard. Dave is a lot more technical and fast, but Kirk plays with more finesse and emotion.
Dave couldve never written the solos to Fade to Black, Sanitarium, One, Nothing Else Matters, etc. Kirk however would never be able to write the stuff to Hanger 18, Lucretia, and Tornado of Souls.
Hetfield wrote nothing else matters but the point still stands, Hammet uses a wah like most guitarists breath, and it can get OTT, but anyway, Im so glad this seems to be over, Mustaine has been an idiot, James, Lars and Cliff were idiots for kicking him out without at least trying to help, Lars is still an idiot but now things are sorted, maybe we can get a decent tour out of them

He offered Ellefson the sdpot when they reformed, but apparently Ellefson was demanding too high a paycheck. why does everyone bash st anger.
not saying its as good as early albums but it is very different. it sounds alot like stoner / doom metal instead of thrash like the good old Metallica. but st anger does have alot of big riffs which i think kick ass.
In the early days James had trouble singing and playing together. Hence the band trying to get Jon Bush of Armored Saint/Anthrax fame to sing for them because James just wanted to play rhythm guitar. Which is why alot of the time during the early shows it was just Dave playing, because James was busy singing.
So to all you little kids who have seen the metallica videos from 1982 or whatever and are thinking BUT JAYMZ IS HOLDIN A GEETAR OMG LOLZZZ! . Just because he held the guitar didnt mean he was playing that.

The one guy who kept Dave's back from DAY ONE, out treat him like that? When all the Guitarists and Drummer came and went, they was always Dave and Dave(Ellefson). Dave really let me down about that.

Ellefson was offered to rejoin Megadeth a total of atleast 3 times (to record TSHF, to go on the blackmail the universe tour and when james macdonough left) and each time Ellefson said no. Anmyways mustaine now says that James LoMenzo is his new bass 'soulmate', so it won't happen again i'm sure. Not that I mind, ellefson's role in Megadeth is a little overrated IMO.
And for the record, i'm glad it's over with these 2 bands. It was always blown out of proportion and i'm glad we can all get along.
PS: There WAS a VERY BRIEF time where James Hetfeld just sang.
