FEWER people in the Lothians are dying from strokes every year, according to new figures.
The statistics, which include data for 2005, show 777 people died from cerebrovascular disease - or stroke - in the NHS Lothian board area, compared with 862 residents in 2004 and 902 the year before that.
The pattern has been mirrored across Scotland, with 5789 deaths in 2005 compared with 6155 a year earlier.
