Red Hot Chili Peppers release Desecration Smile on February 12th on Warner Bros. Records as the latest single to be taken from their 4.5-million selling album Stadium Arcadium.
Desecration Smile follows the recent Stadium Arcadium singles Dani California (#2), Tell Me Baby (#16) and Snow (Hey Oh) (#16).
The opening track on the Mars disc of Stadium Arcadium, Desecration Smile contrasts melancholic verses reminiscent of the Californication single Road Trippin' with a powerful, driving chorus.
As with the rest of Stadium Arcadium, Desecration Smile was produced by Rick Rubin in the same house in the Hollywood Hills that the band recorded the 1991 landmark album BloodSugarSexMagik.
Stadium Arcadium spent two weeks at the top of the album charts following its release in May. Since then it has sold over 450,000 copies in the UK alone.
The band's summer tour of stadiums and football clubs proved to be a huge success that culminated in four sold-out gigs at London's Earls Court before headlining this year's T in the Park festival.
Recently, they also played an intimate gig for XFM at the rejuvenated Roundhouse venue.
Stadium Arcadium also earned the Red Hot Chili Peppers the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Album.
