February 23, 2007 -- GET onboard tomorrow, when the O Jays bring the sound of Philadelphia to the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts (on the campus of Lehman College; 250 Bedford Park Blvd. West, The Bronx; [718] 960-8833).

The group, which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, released its first album on producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff s legendary label, Philadelphia International Records. That 1972 disc, Backstabbers, helped define that famous Philly sound with Love Train crashing into No. 1 on the pop charts.

TONIGHT plus: Standards crooner Jimmy Scott croons a standard like no one else. At age 81, the enchanting singer s sets are short but melodically magical. After a few hits decades ago, including Everybody s Somebody s Fool (with Lionel Hampton s big band), the high-pitched, Cleveland-born Scott toiled in obscurity for years but was rediscovered by TV-watching hipsters when David Lynch hired him to sing Under the Sycamore Tree in the final episode of Twin Peaks, which led to a recording contract.

Also this weekend, BAM s Brookyn Next fest celebrates live music at BAM and at more than a dozen Brooklyn venues - see bam.org.
