Former Source magazine head Ray “Benzino” Scott’s legal issues are far from over.

A federal judge has refused to dismiss tax-evasion charges against the rapper/executive. U.S.

District Court Judge Ray W. Zobel rejected Scott’s attorneys request that the charges be dropped because Benzino’s accountant was working as an FBI and IRS informant at the same time he was prepping his tax documents. “There is something fundamentally wrong with the government employing [Scott’s] controller to gather evidence of other crimes at the very same time the controller is ostensibly putting together the information necessary to prepare [Scott’s] tax returns,” Benzino’s legal team argued in court papers.

According to The Boston Herald, George Moore, who handled finances for The Source, secretly recorded conversations with Scott. However, prosecutors maintain that Moore was never paid for his cooperation with the government.
