Lightbody and the woman, introduced as "Madison" after a hasty consultation, then sang together, each with an arm around the other. And it was pretty good.

OK, Madison is no Martha Wainwright, but, as Lightbody pointed out, what she did was "the height of bravery." She even chuckling as he sang.
But more important, the moment transformed the show.


Up until then, the band had played well and the charismatic Lightbody had connected with the crowd.
band's albums, and there had been little of the Only a band accomplished but flexible, prepared but playful, would have tried what Snow Patrol did. Brave of Madison, sure -- but pretty brave for the Snow Patrol lads, too.
