Fans of one another s work-- and both signed to -- Lindstr m and 120 Days have rendezvoused in the studio with designs on fashioning three new cosmic jams. Look for those songs on a special 12 later this year, and on the follow-up to 120 Days 2006 self-titled debut sometime after that.

In other news, Lindstr m will soon release a 12 with vocalist and collaborator Isabelle Sandoo. He also has a remix EP on the way via Smalltown. Titled The Contemporary Fix, this one s a topsy-turvy affair: Eye from Boredoms, Justin Van Der Volgen from !

That DVD should be available this spring, when, somehow, Xiu Xiu will find time for a month-long (be on the lookout for another as well). And!

Lusine Recruits Tejada, Dear, Apparat for Remix Album
Also: Spectral kicks off Death series, North American residencies Seattle techno producer Jeff McIlwain, aka , will release an album of remixes on March 20 via . The CD/digital version of the collection is titled Podgelism and features remixes of Lusine by John Tejada, Matthew Dear, Apparat, Lawrence, Robag Wruhme, and Lusine himself, among others. Ghostly will also release an abbreviated 12 version titled Podgelism: Select Remixes, which features four of the most dancefloor-oriented remixes.

It is also scheduled for a March 20 release. Doug Seay s video for Still Frame will come with the CD.
Speaking of Ghostly s danceable side, counterpart label will release the first 12 in the Death Is Nothing to Fear series on February 20.

Death Is Nothing to Fear 1 features (aka Matthew Dear) on the A-side and Bodycode and newcomer P a r Grindvik on the B.
Dear is currently on a North American tour under his Audion alias. His remaining DJ dates continue through March, and Spectral is calling them the first installment of a bi-monthly North American residency , which sort of sounds like a regular old tour to us.

April and May s residency will feature Bodycode. will assume the role of touring machine for much of the first half of 2007. Their itinerary includes a couple of DJ sets by various band members, a few solo dates, and a massive tour of the UK and Europe with .

The band still have release plans while on tour, though. First, 2005 s will finally have a full release in Europe, though that s about all the information they ve released on their website so far.

They will also release a series of remix 12 s. The first is for Weekend and features remixes from Virgintears and former Smashing Pumpkin James Iha (or is it current Smashing Pumpkin? We can never tell with Corgan and crew).

It will come out digitally and on vinyl in early February. The next remix 12 will be for Soft Power , and it should be available in March. Thanks to reader Jaime L.

Going straight from to Graduation is missing a few steps in between (what about Skipping Class? Changing Meal Plans?

Drinking So Much You Wake Up the Next Day at the Airport Wearing a Badge That Says, Hello, My Name Is: Sloppy McBlzioiuarhgh ?), but has never been one to follow the beaten path. Unless that path has been beaten by .

According to Billboard.com, West has chosen Coldplay s Chris Martin to appear on Homecoming , the first single from Graduation, the higher education-obsessed producer and MC s third album.
Graduation is tentatively scheduled for a release later this year, and though Kanye did admittedly great things with Maroon 5 s Adam Levine on Late Registration s Heard Em Say , we re still a little skeptical about the Chris Martin collaboration.

(Jigga s Beach Chair wasn t all that.) The good news, however, is that West has re-teamed with producer and multi-instrumentalist Jon Brion, telling Billboard.com, We ll be working together again on the new project.

Jon wasn t just a producer-- he was such a good friend and a great person to bounce ideas off of in the studio. It was the whole experience.
Back in the world of semi-troubling collaborations, MTV.

com reports that Kanye has plans to remix Fall Out Boy s , the first single from their forthcoming Infinity on High LP. The album features production from Babyface and a verse from Jay-Z on one track, and pin-up Boy bassist Pete Wentz hopes to get Kanye s remix on the disc as well, even though it s scheduled for a fast-approaching February 6 release. Wentz also said Fall Out Boy have plans to put their own spin on one of Kanye s new songs.

We can only imagine who Kanye might collaborate with next. Might we suggest, um, the guy from Travis? Junior Boys Remixed by Hot Chip, Prep EPs, Tour As our holiday highs come down, have just the thing to send them through the roof again.

The sublime Canadian electronic duo, whose clocked in at #12 on our list, has just announced the release of a new EP packed with choice remixes-- including one from UK tourmates and fellow electro-pop sensation .
Details on the remix EP are scant at this point, but we do know it s slated for April release on , and that the U.S.

and UK versions will each sport slightly different surprises.
Much nearer on the horizon for our dear Boys: an iTunes live session EP, out today, featuring four JB deep cuts-- including a killer live version of Under the Sun from the Boys debut, Last Exit. If you caught a show on the duo s recent tour (in trio formation, with drummer David Foster), you know this one sounds like that sun is pretty much melting your vital organs with its intense rays, and shit damn is that awesome.

Cop that .
And rest assured, patrons of iTunes UK. The EP goes live next week over thataways.

If you ve yet to experience Junior Boys live, however, here s your chance. The pair kicks off 2007 on the good foot, launching a tour of Western Europe in February that has them hitting pretty much everywhere but Luxembourg. They should swing through the U.

S. again soon after that, details to be announced.
Finally, it s not too late to submit your entry for the Junior Boys -- but be wary, the March 1 deadline looms sooner than you think.

That boy Gillis is at it again. Following up a Peter Bjorn and John remix and a , returns to repackage another Pitchfork favorite for the dancefloor, and this time around he actually employs the mash-up skills that made him a hit in the first place. Whether or not it works is for you to decide.

Gillis slices and dices s Knife (from the LP), buttering it up with what sounds like the opening to Tears for Fears Shout , mashing in a liberal portion of Clipse s Wamp Wamp -- including Slim Thug s entire chorus and Pusha s verse-- and stabbing in a dash of this and that to color Ed Droste s cryptic queries.
Girl Talk is out there right now, in fact, making the kids move their bodies in indecent fashion across the U.S.

Parents: do you know where your hip, young children are right now?
Grizzly Bear, likewise, hit the road soon ( ), doing for our minds and senses of beauty what Gillis does for our hips and rumps.
And speaking of rump-shakers, recently revealed to NME.

com that they re going to have their way with Grizzly Bear s Knife as well, covering the song for their own licentious purposes. After talking to the feisty Brazilians and giving the thumbs up, the Grizz also accepted an invitation to return the favor and cover a CSS jam. The Internet: bringing people together who probably don t belong together, because it s funny.

The Knife Remixed by Dave Sitek, Booka Shade just before the holidays, -- who straight slaughtered our year-end lists, scoring honors and single on the way. It might be their third, fourth, or eleventh, depending on released Booka Shade, Rex the Dog, and Planningtorock remixes of the song along with reworkings from the Emperor Machine and TV on the Radio s Dave Sitek. UPDATE: The EP will be out in the U.

S. on February 20. Last but certainly not least, Brille has designs on a deluxe re-release of Silent Shout in the near future.

Details forthcoming.
When we think of (aka Sufjan compatriot Shara Worden), ponies, orchestras, and churches spring wamp wamp whoa! Which makes our thinking just plain wrong, because My Brighest Diamond has announced a remix disc, Tear It Down, set for release on March 6 via Ellen Allien Remixes Beck and Yorke, Owns 2007 is all about 2007.

In fact, she s so excited about it, she s practically planned out the entire year already, for both herself and the label she lovingly oversees, Berlin-based techno powerhouse . Remixes, compilations, mixes, new albums, new signings, tours-- it s all in the works, so pull up one of those futuristic-looking pod chairs, pour yourself a glass of Tang, sit back, and check it out.
First up, Allien pays her respects to 2006, which wasn t too shabby at all for the gal.

In collaboration with co-chief , she released the Pitchfork this past spring-- and she and Apparat judged a Way Out video contest held by MTV-owned Flux.tv (now ). Check out the winning clip, painstakingly put together by Marco Testoni, below.

Like a low-budget Take on Me , it s an absolute marvel of animation on the cheap, although it might have fit slightly better with a gritty rock song than Allien Apparat s nocturnal electronic bubblings. After a series of DJ gigs in Europe this month and a New Year s bash in Berlin with Sascha Funke, Allien hops on the 2007 trajectory and doesn t look back. In March, she ll hit us with both the third Bpitch Camping compilation (including a new Allien track) and the CD/DVD Time Out Presents: The Other Side Berlin mix (which arrives March 30, courtesy of Fujiya Miyagi s U.

S. home ; tracklist below). Allien s Berlin mix culls together everything from a German version of David Bowie s Heroes to Swiss robo-seductress Miss Kitten to the minimal superstar Ricardo Villalobos.

And heads up: Madlib s The Other Side L.A. mix drops then as well.

In the fall, Allien dons her mixing hat once again for Boogybytes Vol. 3 on Bpitch. Like previous Boogybytes releases mixed by Funke and Kiki, this one features another cover photograph that should frighten all the birds and small children away.

As if that weren t enough, she has a mix on the way in May.
An unstoppable mistress of the mix, Allien will also give the remix treatment to tracks by Thom Yorke ( The Eraser ; ), Beck ( The Sun ), and, along with Apparat, Kate Wax-- those should see release in the near future.
Happy holidays from !

His gift to us? Not something bought at an evil capitalist chain store, oh no. It s remixes of tracks from his solo debut, , available for free download from .

(There are no plans to release the remixes in any other format at the moment.) For anyone who has heard The Eraser, there are some remixes coming.
I got excited.

I ve been listening through. I mean. There s some freaky shit.

They may start appearing soon. Gradually. Briefly.

Right now, only two have been posted, but it looks like there are more to come (four more, if the squiggly drawings of buildings you have to click on to access the remixes are to be believed). We hope that finally sees the light of day this way. Yorke s labelmates take on Analyse , outfitting the skeletal track with stutters, bleeps and video game gunshots.

Yes, it s another one of the mysterious duo s trademark dystopian creations. On Dead Air Space, Yorke calls it a deranged twist of Analyse by Various Productions , adding, i got into them after hearing Hater off their Lp . English DJ/producer crafts an unsettling club banger out of The Clock , building on the original s broken garage undercurrent and amping up the throb.

He has turned it into something really hard, Yorke writes. And disco.
Well what i call disco anyhow.

It made me very proud.
I hope it gets played in a club somewhere.
Not that i get out much nowadays.

Blood Brother, Dälek, Braxton Remix Minus the Bear Wayyy back in July, when your skin was being scorched by the sun rather than frostbitten by the wind, of and a cadre of remixers set to re-envision that Bear s 2005 set Menos El Oso. With all those Bear bands bumming around of late, after all, a remix disc might be just the thing to lift Minus above Volcano, Grizzly, Huggy, and Panda on the hallowed last.fm charts.

Well we re now quite pleased to share the complete tracklist and title for Interpretaciones Del Oso, due February 20 via longtime Bear den . The disc once again features remix work from (aka Morgan Henderson of the Blood Brothers), (aka D a lek), , (also of Battles), (aka Jay Clark of Pretty Girls Make Graves), , , (aka Yuuki Matthews of Squeeze labelmates Crystal Skulls), , (aka Monostereo), and (the Seattle dude, not the UK grimester).

And by reinvents, I mean trades the bumbling bass for some synthetic steel drum and cowbell sounds and a little low-end background melody.

It s pleasant enough, but frankly I expected something slightly less rudimentary and slightly more mind-melting from this guy, given his chops.
Then again, it s probably a total banger when cranked to 11 in the club with a half-naked Gillis spazz-dancing and crowd-surfing all over you and your stage-crashing friends, everybody perspiring like it s a rain forest up in there. Rapture, Bloc Party on Black Strobe Remix Comp The label released A Remix Selection s first track-- Shining Bright Star (Phones industrial version) -- today as a 12 single, and it is also available online at the site of the duo s series of podcasts, .

The other two current podcast installments are mixes created by both members of Black Strobe, beatmaker Ivan Smagghe and vocalist Arnaud Rebotini.
Shining Bright Star is a preview of the upcoming full-length, which is being recorded with Rapture/Bloc Party/Futureheads producer (aka Phones -- hence the remix name) and My Bloody Valentine/Smashing Pumpkins/Nine Inch Nails engineer/producer Alan Moulder. Seemingly out of character, a press release claims that Black Strobe plan on covering a Muddy Waters song on the currently untitled album.

Black Strobe also have a series of live dates scheduled, most of which are DJ sets of some sort. The shows in Stuttgart, Germany and Rome, however, will feature a live trio, which consists of Rebotini, Benjamin Beaulieu, and a guy named Siskid. Smagghe chooses not to perform at these shows because being on stage brings general unease.

.. There is a show element that I love in others but cannot imagine for myself.

Siskid and Beaulieu are both involved in the recording of the full-length as well. As the year comes to a close, Hebden hasn t slowed down one bit.

Pitchfork caught up with the workaholic recently, and he filled us in on what he s been up to, when he s not slacking off and doing something counter-productive like eating or sleeping. Not surprisingly, Hebden has been steadily adding to his remix discography. He recently got his hands on the version of the White Stripes Forever for Her Is Over for Me , available as an from Rough Trade s brand new MP3 store, .

, Aluminium is avant garde orchestral versions of White Stripes songs, as envisioned by founder Richard Russell and composer/arranger Joby Talbot.
I m a huge fan of the White Stripes, Hebden said. Particularly the last album I really, really liked.

It was a nice thing to remix because the instrumentation was so diverse on it. Hebden just finished his take on s Atoms for Peace , though he has no idea what the release plan for that one is. His version of s first single, The First Big Weekend , is the B-side to the retiring Scottish band s final release, a 7 also featuring There Is No Ending .

So do Spiritualized, Polyphonic Spree, Peaches, Le Tigre Taking aim at stereotypes while simultaneously playing straight to them, has titled her forthcoming album Yes, I m a Witch. (It s also the name of one of her songs.) And the legendary artist/musician has conjured quite a list of guests to appear on the record.

In fact, the record consists of almost nothing but guests.
The idea behind Witch goes like this: Ono chose the artists with whom she wanted to work, gave them access to her back catalog, asked them to chose a song to rework, and then provided [them] with the vocals and whatever other instrumental elements attracted them from that cut. Almost all the artists chose just the vocals, according to a press release.

The result: a remixes/duets/covers record consisting of entirely new musical tracks.
The Flaming Lips, Cat Power, Antony, Le Tigre, Spiritualized s Jason Pierce, Peaches, and the Polyphonic Spree are among those who contributed to Yes, I m a Witch, which will release in February. The label will follow it in March with a compilation of dance remixes of Ono songs.

Shara Worden, aka artist , has had quite a year already, releasing her debut album and touring with her buddy Sufjan. But it s not over yet.
On December 5, Worden will release an iTunes-only EP featuring four versions of the Workhorse track Disappear : the original, an alternate recording, and remixes by Stakka and James McAlister.

Also included will be the previously unreleased B-side The Lace Handkerchief .
Worden is on a headlining tour of North America now, and she will join forces with DeVotchKa in December to complete her dates.

So do Simian Mobile Disco, Van She Julian Hamilton and Kimberley Moyes have undergone the remix treatment.

MP3: 120 Days Remixed by Lansing-Dreiden, the Field Norway s latest export, tundra-rockers , have been winning fans on both sides of the Atlantic. Both tracks come courtesy of Vice s website.

First up, New York s enigmatic concept rock troupe bend and stretch 120 Days original, take it for a few spins around the moon, and drop it off at an unspecified location in the early 1980s. Then Swedish loop wizard , aka Axel Willner, dumps the vocals and just totally slices the thing up into a pulsating, fade-in-fade-out, rhythmic club-floor sprawler.

The DVD portion of the release will feature a tour video by Matthew Chambers, music videos that we re making, real and fake commentary, Google image searches rdquo; and, of course, the above referenced more awesome bullshit. Good googly moogly! is on fire. As we continue to recover from his here in Chicago last weekend, Gregg Gillis has revealed that he s been in the studio (read: bedroom) recently, working on remixes for Beck, Grizzly Bear, Teddybears, and Peter Bjorn and John.

Beck likes Girl Talk so much he not only tapped Gillis as an opening act for a London show a couple weeks ago, but also commissioned not one but two remixes of his new song Cell Phone s Dead from the un-DJ. One remix features live instrumentation and the other samples. We can t wait to hear the results.

Girl Talk is on the road right now, with shows scheduled all the way through December.
OK kids, time to expand the vocabulary. Today we ve got a noun, bricolage, meaning 1) (according to Dictionary.

com) something made or put together using whatever materials happen to be available, 2) an Orange Juice-chugging from the UK, and 3) (pl.) the title of master composer/musician s upcoming remix project.
Stock boys everywhere will pack record store shelves with Bricolages on September 19, courtesy of America.

Artists including Cornelius, Craig Armstrong, Richard Devine, Fennesz, Alva Noto, and others formed this 13-track release by remixing material that happened to be on Sakamoto s 2005 solo release, Chasm. Sakamoto took home an Oscar, a Grammy, a Golden Globe, and a whole slew of other awards for his score to Bernardo Bertolucci s 1987 best picture The Last Emperor. So he s a pretty big deal.

In fact, he s taking an executive producer credit (in association with Norika Sora, Evan Balmer, Justin Kleinfeld, and Eric Giambertone) for Bricolages. Nothing like seeing your name in the liner notes, right?
A few weeks ago, Australian indie pop band sent out a filled with news.

In addition to an update about their new album (which we ll get to in just a little bit), the band announced that they have slimmed down to a six-piece, as members Tara Shackell and Isobel Knowles (no relation to Beyonce) have left the group. Their presence and pizzazz over the past few years has helped make AIH what we are, the group wrote. We want to thank them endlessly for their heart and energy and wish them the very best with their future endeavors.

As for their third full-length, the follow-up to last year s In Case We Die, the jamz are sounding dope, though, we are probably getting a little too into [member] Cameron [Bird] s Latin percussion drum machines (the Phil Collins influence is definitely putting a damper on that!) We got in touch with Bird, who said that Architecture in Helsinki are hard at work on a little pan-continental cyber-sonic wang-exploration. He provided Pitchfork with a kind of verbal blueprint of the new album.

So maybe the debut album from controversial pop icon was never destined for a simple life. Sometime last week, British guerrilla artist doctored 500 copies of her CD-- adding new artwork (e.g.

superimposing a dog s head onto her body), fake song titles ( Why Am I Famous? , What Have I Done? , and What Am I For?

), plus a remix CD to replace the original disc. The albums were signed Banksy/DM and distributed across 48 record stores in the UK. So who is this DM -- the supposed guerrilla DJ behind the remix album?

It appears that it s none another than . , Danger Mouse s management company, said, Waxploitation can confirm the rumors that the DM referenced on the Banksy/DM Paris Hilton CD is in fact Danger Mouse. Danger Mouse and Banksy are believed to have met whilst shopping for disguises in a Soho joke shop.

The only comment they have so far offered on their remix is Its hard to improve on perfection, but we had to try.
Apparently, no one has complained about or returned the doctored versions of Paris. Maybe they realize that when a legendary guerrilla artist and a legendary producer team up for an amazing social-commentary-cum-practical joke, well, that s hot.

LDN was the first track most of us heard from s recently released (in the UK), Pitchfork-recommended , and aside from its blog popularity, this is probably because it was, technically, the first single from the album. But that first pressing was limited to 500 copies on 7 vinyl, an amount and format that left the majority of us out in the cold.
Thankfully, Allen is throwing a bone to those of us who didn t hop on the LDN train the first time around by releasing it again, this time on CD as well.

The single comes out September 25 in CD and 7 formats. One version of the CD single will include LDN , a cover of the Kooks Naive , the LDN Warbox Original Dub, and the song s video. The other CD single version and the 7 will feature granny-dissing favorite Nan You re a Window Shopper as a B-side.

A plethora of remixes and a live version of LDN (including the aforementioned Warbox Original Dub, the Wookie Remix, the Switch Remix, the South Rakka Remix, and a Live at Bush Hall version) will also see digital release shortly, but if you d rather try your own hand at an LDN remix, Allen is holding a contest for you to prove your mixing mettle. She s made the raw pieces of the song available to fans , so work your magic, and Lily might just reward you with a spanking new pair of Lily s self-styled exclusive Nike IDs, according to her website. So you may not be able to get into her pants, but at least you can get into her shoes.

Finally, Allen will support New York s Scissor Sisters on their November tour of the UK.

Don t forget that she also has her own dates (including a handful in North America) in October.
give Strings dancing legs on this pleasant enough remix, though things do get a little uncomfortable when they let Yuki s vocal lines play uninterrupted over a repetitive synth line that is clearly out of tune with her. It s a failed Everything in Its Right Place there for a minute, but the beat takes over again and steers the track back into the dark dance territory where it started.

If you re thinking you might want to actually dance to the sweet and tangy sounds of AS Citrus live, you can see the band on their upcoming North American tour, to which they have recently added seven dates. buddylist (it s hard, we know) and check out our second-favorite just announced that they will spend the fall touring North America, mostly in the company of .
