DNB
01/Redeyes Mutt " " [new, soulful DNB from .
Two of the new school of DNB production's shining stars link up for some cross-Atlantic funk.
]
02/Visionary " " [I only included this to big up Visionary's new label, Rock Groove, and to crack up at him sampling some Sly Robbie from a few years ago. I see you, Marcus!]
03/Pentagon " " [from the new, Future Sound of Tokyo EP out on Hospital. Loving the organ work on this one.]
04/Icicle " " [new one from the Hospital offshoot, Med School.
Icicle really bringing the subfunk on this one, I'm impressed.
]
05/Viral Essence " " [I see posting on DOA all the time, and I know he's a fan of rock the dub, but I had no idea he brought the DNB so nasty! Big up for the free download, and congrats on winning the !]
06/Marky Bungle " " [you know what to expect before hearing this, and you get it. Sultry vocals, BIG bass, and some deep grooves. Vibin' tune.]
07/Rufige Kru " " [why this track sounds like J Majik's "Your Sound" is confusing to me, but I love the feeling all the same. That sound in the intro always sounds like a sunshower to me.]
Hip-Hop/Rap 01/Joulz Il " " [you read , now peep this gem off the mixtape.
True school shit man, shouts to 5 Starr Fam.
] 02/Young Gunz ft. Ma$e " " [I hope the Young Gunnaz don't have a new LP coming.
This beat is ridic though!
] 03/Sean Price " " [More Jesus Price mania. Loving that Reggae-bop in it.] 04/Freeway " " [gotta love that new Freeway. Not sure when/where this one is dropping, so grab it now. Also, check out this mixtape, hosted by Freeway (shouts to and for this one).
I wish I could rhyme in that annoying ass voice every now and again. Peep him speaking about transporting that weight.
] 05/Ghostface Killah " " [from that Mathematics compilation of Unreleased Wu Tang joints, Ghost goes in over one of his dead homies.
I love that sample.
] 06/Cormega ft. Styles P " " [anything with Styles on it is listed, that's my word.
Speaking of which, shout out to Rizoh for the new Styles/Akon track.
] 07/Chubb Rock " " [gotta the kids, no? Classic Chubb Rock single, probably one of my favs from the fast-rap days.
He used to groove and everything.
] 08/Prodigy ft. BG " " [I can't help it, I'm waiting for HNIC2.
You know you love that "One Love" rework too, right? Gotta big up the Young Black Entrepeneurs.
] 09/Cassidy ft.
Beanie Sigel Fabolous " " [you can't hate on their skills. I love the old school feel of this one, from the classic boom bap to the fucking back and forth Cass and Beans do. HOLLA!
] 10/Keith Murray " " [Mr. Murray raping Lupe's "I Gotcha", which I just love. Hot beat, hot spit.
End of. (he also did the same thing to " " and " ")]
___
Did you guys check out this 50 Cent that he's done against Cam'ron? I just don't get it -- the track is garbage, there's a fucking gun with pink diamonds and "50" on the grip, and these guys are in a fucking GARAGE, standing on quads?
At least the Ruff Ryders would take their vehicles on the road...
the talk at the end is priceless, but 50 comes off looking dumb. What good does this serve? (shouts to Rafi at for hitting me with this link)
I also heard that Cam'rom has a dis track out at 50?
Someone link this to me if it's available...

If you guys are looking for some sick DNB sets, check out the DPD from this morning. New, solid mixes from INI, DJ Roots and Switch.
___
For a final thought, I watched early this morning, and got a jones for his music, especially since for has been leaked.
For this final thought, I bring you REDMAN:
"I'll Be Dat"
and finally, one of my personal favorite Redman tracks, shouts to the heads who used to ride the bus with me back when I was in middle school and got me into Redman via the .
..
"Can't Wait"
I was thinking on that yesterday - how little I have been digging into YEARS OLD music. I need to get back to that older stuff..
. EDIT: I finally got around to blogging about Jordana (aka 1.8.
7.'s) post over on DOA offering up a boatload of FREE DNB! Check out over at the dubplate digest for more info, direct links, and other stuff.
01/Sean Price " " [nice one from Ayatollah and Jesus Price. Non- track, but from the PROMO I heard, that LP is dangerous!] 02/Joe Budden " " [Joey does it again, this time snatching Metallica's original to let out some of his demons.
One of my favs right now, forreal. Where's his LP?] 03/Jin ft.
Donald Trump " " [Jin going at Rosie for her random Chinese comments in her dissing of Trump - listen to the intro of the track. he even kicks shit in Cantonese, which sounds dope. Nice reworking of Nas' Ether, too.
] 04/Jennifer Holiday "And I'm Telling You" [I don't want to see Dreamgirls. I do like the original track though. Jennifer Hudson this for , but her voice is too high IMHO.
Original FTW.] 05/Sabre " " [I swear I've heard those keys before, on some random, dusty mixtape I have. Sabre is one of the ones to watch for 2007, hands down.
Sultry DNB.] 06/Evol Intent " " [pure ghetto nastiness. Gotta love those ATL bwoys.
] 07/Seba ft. Robert Manos " " [this combination cannot do any wrong. Seba provides some skittering, solid beats while Robert handles the beautiful vocal.
] 08/Common ft. Bilal " " [Spine Magazine has this as being produced by Kariem Riggins, J Dilla's boy, but it sounds like some Dilla shit. Love hearing Common over some high strings.
Soulful tune.] 09/Styles P "Close To The Concrete" [Styles P is the man for this one. this came out on is essential.
.. can't say anything more, really.
] 10/Saburuko "Stellar" [can't wait for to drop. Just wait and see.]
For you guys watching and having NO IDEA who MC Serch is, he was in a crew called .
Check out some of their videos:
"Gas Face" (ft. Zev Luv X AKA MF Doom)
and I posted this previously, but here is "Pop Goes The Weasel" LIVE on Arsenio Hall - peep DJ Richie Rich at the end, cutting it up. Classic. At the end of the day, you gotta know where you've been to know where you are going.
I will not be going through what I loved about 2006; that's what my reviews are for. Check the side panel for links to the various bits and bobs I dug or dig dug this year. These sweets are sendspace goodies that will be available for as long as they allow them to be.
I should just let the music do the talking, but...
01/James Brown " "...
first off, RIP to James Brown. It's hard that a guy can have such a direct influence on so many genres of music, and still maintain his own singular voice. Many imitators, none duplicators, and many niggas owe their bank accounts to this man's work.
He's one of the only Black men in America who did it without asking for help or assistance or giving a fuck about what anyone else thought - he converted millions. And he did it without really being the best singer. He had his own voice, but his tracks weren't about him singing.
It was a full package, a single groove. The sum was definitely greater than the whole of it's parts. And we will miss him for it.
.. 02/Mobb Deep " ".
.. One of my fav Mobb tracks of all time.
They signed to G-Unit this year, and although I loved their album, it failed to crack any serious numbers. Shame, shame. Probably too much Fiddy dick-riding, but Prodigy seems to be , so maybe they will take it back to how they were coming up.
"Until my death, my goal's to stay alive...
" 03/Cassidy ft. Lil' WayneFabolous " "..
. this is the best shit off Cass' last album, no bullshit. I slept on the CD -- it was just a bit too much crack-rap from someone who is a hell of a lot more than a crack-rapper.
My nigga Boo put me onto this one, and it stuck. Symphonies run rampant on the beat, which is mid-level kicks and loads of live-sounding snares. Weezy drops one of the most slept on verses of 2005, Fab spits his smooth one-liners and Cass just one-ups both of them for about 2 and a half minutes.
, Cassidy. 04/T.I.
ft. Bun BRakim " "..
. you fucks slept on this track, this mixtape, and this blog for too long. was about DJ Green Lantern's Alive On Arrival mixtape, which is hands down the mixtape of 2006.
If you don't believe me, then fuck you. This track is off that tape, so sorry if you are looking for a full clip - I don't have one. Anyways, Green laces this bass heavy beat with some odd Rakim vocal snippet as the chorus, and Tip goes off about being "a rebel", but music just being a way for him to escape.
..and UGK's finest just pimp slaps this track with another banger.
Go , quick. Stop sleeping. 05/Lil' Scrappy ft.
Young Buck " "...
I'll admit it -- if it wasn't for the bleeps in that minimal beat, I wouldn't give 2 shits about this track or this LP. The LP ain't half bad -- it ain't half good, but that's how it do. Scrappy doing it for BME and G-Unit, and Buck Fiddy-riding about a whip he is allowed to drive by his boss.
Gay, but whatever, shorty whatcha drank!? 06/Obie Trice " ".
.. i heard this on the promo version of Obie's 2nd lp.
.. I never wanted to peep the 2nd LP, for I didn't like the first.
I think Obie stepped his game up a tad, he started emulating Jay and others. This track is just straight thick. That beat, I don't know who did it, but its a heavy head nodder with some dope horn work in it.
Obie tries to go into some politicals, and it works, but its that beat. Maybe the 3rd time will be the charm? 07/Masta Killa ft.
Ghostface Killah Raekwon " "...
this is one of those tracks that, when I am working, I can throw on repeat and get a shitload of things done. That repetitive loop might bore some, but this is the essence of the Wu. Beauty in monotony, and some poisonous darts from 3 of the Clan's finest.
Who knows what the track is about, don't you wish more Wu-Tang joints sounded this dirty? 08/Beanie Sigel " "..
. Beans was my favorite enigma of 2006. He put this out, a dope mixtape with Drama and 'em, and pretty much just gave .
Hopefully more of his mixtapes will surface, so we can find out what is really going on with him. He's without the best MC out there right now putting his life on the mic. Not too many sound sincere - B Sig IS sincere.
And raw. And real. And in your face.
And all over the map. Keep pushin', nigga. 09/Snoop Dogg ft.
Dr. DreD'Angelo " "..
. best track on Snoop's new one? Yes.
Don't you just love knowing that Snoop and Dre grew up, and can get introspective about live. And D'Angelo showing up on this AND a J Dilla album!?
Gotta love it. Dre didn't get much props for his beats, but he did his thing this year. I won't say grab Snoop's LP, but def.
check this one out. 10/Big Kuntry T.I.
" "...
this is called THE FUTURE. Dubstep and Rap united. We like to call it THUGSTEP.
My boy is going ghost for a bit in a bit, so I'll be providing you guys with more of his heatrocks in due time, for due time. You'll be aware when its time to make you fucks aware. Until then, do a search on this blog for DJ NAPPY, and go dload what you can.
You can't tell me that trap niggas and dubsteppers are some long lost twins. Nappy just had to play Maury..
. You know how we do, though. It's not just about free shit I am providing you.
.. arQer and Realtime, two of Texas' finest DnB producers, dropped a of 320kbps tunes.
.. for FREE!
Eight licks of funky shit, from the bouncy funk of arQer's "Atlantis Touch" to Realtime's neuro-dub exploration on "Homegrown", you are not ready. Realtime also brings in some old school vibes with "Rough Age", and on "Grasshopper Lies Heavy", arQer goes classic as well, but with a modern twist to it. Back to the future status.
Why these tracks aren't signed already is anyone's guess, but that's not the point. We got them now, for cheap, too. So grab while they are able to get got, and keep an eye peeled for them.
kapsil recently dropped his , and while you might not recognize all of the names, you will be stunned by the tracks and the mixing. Pure funk, baby. In terms of a final thought, I don't really have one.
Keep music good, and make quality albums, or niggas will continue to steal your shit. I hate bootlegging, but why would I spend $10 on a Jay-Z album where I can honestly only say I like the first 3 cuts? No sir, not this nigga.
I have been trying to champion some Nas Primo shit, and this video is the reason why:
Today is officially Nigga Friday. Instead of going out and buying shit, we broke, so we're in the crib, vibin'. Here's an assload of tracks that have kept me sane this week:
Drum Bass:
01/Lupe Fiasco " " [whitelabel] [gotta love that heavy bassline - took the best part of the track (which does NOT include a verse of Lupe's) and made it funky!]
02/Twisted Individual " " [grid] [some sly, murky bass from one of the dancefloor masters...
his sound is going back to that darker, moodier thing. diggin' it.
]
03/Wayz " " [doa] [new one on DOA records.
.. gotta represent.
HEAVY BASS!
]
04/Jamal " " [tov] [I'm not a big fan of TOV these days, but this and " " are two DOPE Jamal tracks they picked up. see if you can steal this disc from the EP it came out on.]
05/PRS " " [molten vinyl] [I dunno much about PRS or this label, but this track is tasty.]
06/Laroque " " [walnut] [001 on Laroque's new label, this one is a bit nasty, but it still has that liquid feel to it. don't sleep on Walnut.]
07/Break " " [critical] [can this man do no wrong? WATCH THAT BASS!]
08/Mutt " " [creative source] [tribute track from the one like Mutt.
beautiful piece...
that breakdown in the middle is the stuff heaven is made of.
]
09/Infectious "One In A Million Things" [dubplate] [shouts to fu for this one..
. sounding good! Labels, keep your ears peeled.
..
]
10/Spirit " " [renegade hardware] [very interesting track coming from the next Horsemen lp.
.its one of his where it shifts gears midway ala " ", and hearing Ink drop that before, it all makes sense..
.
]
11/Autumn " " [fokuz] [another crew that does no wrong..
. deep, lush..
. just a warm track. add it to your order NOW!
]
12/Calibre " " [innerground] [b-side wins again on this one.]
13/Nasty Habits vs. Blu Mar Ten " " [31 records] [out on promo right now.
.. will this make a full release?
2k6 revamp of one of darkside DnB's classic tunes.
]
Mixed Treats
01/NozL ft. 2tallMuzzell "Akabizzl" [nice mash-up of a nasty beat, scratches, guitars.
.. on is choice, check it out.
]
02/SDM " " [you gota love free dubstep. he has another one available, too: " ". for more dnb fun.]
03/Coki "Shattered" [ ...
been waiting for this one for some time.
]
04/Lil' Jon ft. Three 6 Mafia vs.
Coki " " [I doctored the name on that one, and helped in the conception of this track, but if you dig dubstep and ignorant rap, you cannot tell me this shit isn't perfect.]
05/Nas ft. Jay-Z " " [from Nas' forthcoming album.
.. the beat on this one is so ridiculous.
Good to hear Jigga and Esco on a track together, I really like how this one sounds.
]
06/Tonedeff ft. Extended Famm "Ugly Woman" [shouts to the family, this one samples .
lovin' it; we need more truly funny Hip-Hop.
]
07/Juggaknots "Berkowitz" [Breeze and fam do the damn thing over a nice beat. nothing else to say, really.]
08/Fat Joe " " [that 1993 classic Fat Gangsta shit, back when he was straight up DITC. I love that beat.]
09/Ghostface KillahTheodore Unit " " [so More Fish is gonna be instead of strictly Ghost, eh?
It could be worse...
]
10/Jay-Z "44 Four's (Live)" [live version of Jay's "22 Two's" with his new shit, "44 Four's" right after it...
sickness.
]
11/ShowbizAG " " [classic DITC 1992 style..
. take a trip back.
]
