Australia will be represented by Alicia Molik and Mark Philippoussis, two of Australia’s most successful international players. They play similar styles with massive serves backed up by big forehands so will not be overpowered by the other teams. The Australian team has tasted representative success before - Alicia is the 2004 Olympic Games bronze medallist and Mark Philippoussis is the only Australian Player to win both the Davis Cup (twice) and the Hopman Cup.
Alicia will be looking for a successful Hopman Cup to kick off the Australian Summer of Tennis, as occurred two years ago.

Published November 20th, 2006 in , , , , , , , Well, cricket fever is going to hit WA in December with the Ashes Test being played at the from 14 to 18 December 2006. Tickets sold out very quickly, so if you want to see it with a crowd anyway, check out the free .
There will be a huge screen set up on the corner of James and Lake Streets (Northbridge Piazza), where you ll be able to follow the Channel 9 coverage, from the start till end of play.
The HIF Cricket Village will be at Forrest Place in the city from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 December, where cricket will be on show, and there will be activities and guest appearances.
There s lots of other cricket events happening in December, with the Lilac Hill match on 8 December, the Tour Match on 9 and 10, the Legends Twenty20 on 12 December and the Ashes Urn Exhibition at the WA Museum from 10 to 20 December. From 11 December to 1 February there s also a cricket exhibition at the State Library.
