would give the greatest sunset in the world for one sight of New York's skyline. The sky over New York and the will of man made visible. I feel that if a war came to threaten this, I would like to throw myself into space, over the city, and protect these buildings with my body.

Ayn Rand
He saved 100 American lives and was awarded the Medal of Honor. Sergeant Smith is a hero worth remembering for his selfless act of courage. He performed his duty because it was what he was trained to do in accordance with US military policy.

He was protecting his fellow soldiers
On November 12, 2004, Marine Lance Cpl. Jake Knospler was leading his fire team in the 1st Battalion, 8th Marines during the fight to liberate Fallujah from terrorists -- not "freedom fighters," terrorists. An enemy grenade hit Knospler in the face, blowing away his jaw and part of his skull.

He miraculously survived his terrible wounds Knospler told Ollie North, "I have to get better. My country, my corps and my family are counting on me." U.

S. Army Staff Sgt. Jonathan Holsey, a nine-year Army veteran, was serving in the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment .

A roadside bomb -- placed by a terrorist- so severely wounded him that his left leg had to be removed below the knee at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He now wears a prosthetic leg -- yet he plans to stay in the Army. When Ollie North asked him why, he replied, "because my soldiers need me.

We have a war to win -- and my country needs me."
Vincent's own words: "Words matter. Words convey moral clarity.

Without moral clarity, we will not succeed in Iraq. That is why the terms the press uses to cover this conflict are so vital. For example, take the word "guerillas.

" As you noted, mainstream media sources like the New York Times often use the terms "insurgents" or "guerillas" to describe the Sunni Triangle gunmen, as if these murderous thugs represented a traditional national liberation movement. But when the Times reports on similar groups of masked reactionary killers operating in Latin American countries, they utilize the phrase"paramilitary death squads." Same murderers, different designations.

Yet of the two, "insurgents" and especially "guerillas" has a claim on our sympathies that "paramilitaries" lacks. This is not semantics: imagine if the media routinely called the Sunni Triangle gunmen "right wing paramilitary death squads." Not only would the description be more accurate, but it would offer the American public a clear idea of the enemy in Iraq.

And that, in turn, would bolster public attitudes toward the war. Supporters of the conflict in Iraq bear much blame for allowing the terminology---and, by extension, the narrative--of events to slip from our grasp and into the hands of the anti-war camp. Words and ideas matter.

Instead of saying that the Coalition "invaded" Iraq and "occupies" it today, we could more precisely claim that the allies liberated the country and are currently reconstructing it. More than cosmetic changes, these definitions reflect the nobility of our effort in Iraq, and steal rhetorical ammunition from the left. The most despicable misuse of terminology, however, occurs when Leftists call the Saddamites and foreign jihadists "the resistance" What an example of moral inversion!

For the fact is, paramilitary death squads are attacking the Iraqi people. And those who oppose the killers--the Iraqi police and National Guardsmen, members of the Allawi government, people like Nour--they are the "resistance." They are preventing Islamofascists from seizing Iraq, they are resisting evil men from turning the entire nation into a mass slaughterhouse like we saw in re-liberated Falluja.

Anyone who cares about success in our struggle against Islamofascism, or upholds principles of moral clarity and lucid thought--should combat such Orwellian distortions of our language." The 27-year-old former football player was tragically killed in friendly fire in Afghanistan.
A former member of the Arizona Cardinals, Tillman, along with his brother Kevin, enrolled with the U.

S. Army Rangers after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

In 2003, the brothers were awarded an Arthur Ashe Courage Award meant for individuals whose contributions transcend sports. The award was accepted by their younger brother, Richard, while the brothers were away.
Peralta , in his last fleeting moments of consciousness- reached out and pulled a grenade into his body and saved his fellow Marines in a battle with insurgents.

Laid to Rest on November 3, 2001 Worked out in my gym. Ran into World Trade Center 9/11 After serving in the Marines as an enlisted man and graduating from New York University, he embarked on careers on Wall Street and then as a TV producer. But he gave up a comfortable Manhattan lifestyle and talked his way back into the Marine Corps at 31 to fight terrorists after the September 11 attacks by al Qaeda.

Col. Winn recommended to Maj. Gen.

Richard Huck that all criminal charges be dropped, including murder and destruction of the Iraqis' vehicle. Col. Winn recommended that Lt.

Pantano face administration punishment for firing too many rounds at the two men. He has been cleared of these RIDICULOUS CHARGES.

From John Fund, Political Journal (PAID only)

Politics is all about timing. Apparently, the liberals behind Citizens for information about Mark Foley's sexual instant messages as far back as April, cycle.

The American Spectator reports that a political consultant with ties to story wasn't supposed to drop until about ten days out of the election. It was supposed to be the coup de grace, not the first shot.
But as another Democratic operative told the magazine, the political climate at the end of September was suddenly turning ominous.

Bush's national security speeches were getting traction beyond the base, gas prices were dropping, economic outlook surveys were positive. Republicans were back to [holding enough House] seats for a 15-seat majority. In the Senate, it looked like a wash.

All use of opposition research on Mr. Foley that had been put aside for later in the campaign. Republicans had to have known we'd be looking to change the national debate, says a House Democrat leadership aide.

The first in your series is the last. Damn. LOL
It MUST have been a good one too.

You apparently offended lots of liberal sensitivities. Woe. LOLOL
You need to do it again and just post it here.

    Wow.
    a) Vlog is down. Probably want another video hosting service.

    b) Great badges. I went to the site and got me the Irey and Doug Roulstone badges.
    I-REY THE MURTHA!

Best Vlog yet! I agree, make all Congressmen (and Senators) take polygraphs! Ouuuu, I wonder which PARTY would have the most with "gray areas".

    ...

Republicans or Democrats. My money's on the donkeys..

    ..
I had a polygraph when I was in the service at NSA, it wasn't that bad.

.. although my clearance was pulled for a few months while they checked out the relationship I had with a "foreign national" who had a green card from a communist satellite (a Polish woman I met).

They just want to make sure you're not a traitor or anything.. or make sure there's no skeletins in your closet.

.. so why would a Congressman object to that?

    ?
    Strap 'em all up!
Also, start holding them accountable for taking classified materials out of the building (what the hell DID Berger take anyway?

    ? More Korean/China coverups??

or Al-Queda? We'll never know because THEY aren't accountable!
    Go Santorum!

Oh, and that Jong ILL - Madeline Albright video is the TRUTH.
We can't let the Dems win or it will be a HORROR, a living Twilight Zone..

    ..
Ahmadinejad is not going to attack the U.

S., Richard. He just throws out this rhetoric to try and rile up a public that doesn't like him or his government.

It's no different from Bush constantly bringing up the War on Terror to boost his polls.
Yeah, Iran's government is awful, and they've been responsible for heinous crimes against humanity, against their own people and against Israel and against America. And they should be punished for it.

But the Iranian people hate their government, too, and they're a complex and varied people, just like us, and they've been the most civilizing influence in Islamdom. Demonizing them doesn't help anybody, it just drives them away from us and furthers the cycle of hate.
A little appreciation for complexity and nuance, is all I'm saying.

    You heard it here first.
There is a certain derogatory term in islam. The term is Dini.

It is used to describe, for want of a better term, a koran thumper. Someone who is so one dimensional in his adherance to Islam he becomes tiresome to even his fellow Muslims.
Now here's the question of the day.

If I'M A JIHAD DINI. Would that make me the president of Iran?
Of course he's not going to attack Israel.

How is supposed to attack Israel? With troops? A bomb?

And bring the entire IDF down on Tehran?
This is yet another reason why demonizing others is a bad idea, Richard - you start thinking that they're capable of anything, because they're "evil" and that's what evil people do. But Ahmadinejad is not insane, nor is he stupid.

He's a politician who wants to stay in power. He throws out all the rhetoric about Israel and the U.S.

, because it stirs up nationalism, and he keeps pushing for nuclear weapons because it makes him look like a big guy standing up to the West and because nukes get you power and respect. And he talks about the Mahdi and all that because he's the president of a very religious country, and his poor rural base responds to it. This is all Demogauge 101 stuff.

But it's one thing to say that Israel should be wiped off the map, and it's another thing to actually attack Israel. Iranians don't care about the former, but they are not going to tolerate another war, and these mullahs know it. So no, I guarantee you Iran is never going to attack Israel or the United States.

Unless the U.S. hits first, because we've demonized them to the point where we think it's the only option left.

    And wouldn't that be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I just EXPLAINED why, Dentens. Do you read other comments before you respond to them?

Look, bottom line is, Iranians aren't going to stand for an unprovoked war. They'll nod and clap for anti-Israel rhetoric, because they don't like Israel, and "Muslim solidarity" and all that, but in their view it's the Arabs' fight. They're certainly not going to spend blood and treasure on it.

And the country has enough problems as it is, with rampant drug use and a terrible economy and government corruption. Heck, that's why Ahmadinejad got elected in the FIRST place - he ran on economic populism and old time religion, not on aggressive Islamic conquest. And now that he can't solve the numerous problems, he's trying to distract attention with his chest-thumping.

I know it's difficult, Dentens, but can you think very, VERY hard for a minute and try to understand that a country is not the equivalent of its leader? Just focus on it.
    Z - Glad YOU'RE so sure.

Anyway, how would YOU stop Iran from funding, arming, and encouraging Hamas, Hezballah, and Jihadist Assasins around the world and in particular in Iraq and Israel.
Do you agree Iran is sending arms, bombs, IED's, high tech weapons, and assassins into Iraq that are killing our troops?
If you do believe it, how would you stop this?

If you don't believe it, then you need to wake up. (but I think you do)
Let's not play stupid games with semantics, Dentons. Of course I'm not "personally guaranteeing" it in the sense that I would a mortgage.

Just pretend I said whatever equates to "there is no way that Iran is going to attack Israel or the U.S. absent provocation.

    "
The Iranian government will keep on doing what you said, Richard - surreptitiously funding Hezbollah and underwriting Shiite groups in Iraq. It causes just as much trouble to the US and Israel, it strengthens Iran's hand in the region since their neighbors become destabilized, and most of all, it can't be definitely traced back to the government.
I don't quite know how to stop it - it's not going to be any easy solution, Richard, although it's worth pointing out that Iranians don't like their money being diverted for Hezbollah.

Iranian dissatisfaction with the regime needs to be exploited, not undermined by attacking the country and demonizing the public.
    Exactly..

In acts of official perfidy that may be unparalleled in our nation’s history, Clinton accepted bribes from Red China in the form of illegal political contributions, and in exchange made policy decisions that undermined our national security. • The Red Chinese military (the so-called People’s Liberation Army, or PLA) is now able to deploy much more accurate nuclear-armed missiles pointed at the United States, in large measure because of policy decisions by President Clinton • President Clinton signed national security waivers to allow four U.

    S. commercial satellites to be launched in China, despite evidence that China was exporting nuclear and missile technology to Pakistan and Iran.
"How did it come about that highly sensitive technical information was given to the Chinese?

Why did the president ignore the national security experts who counseled against this deal? What damage has been done to our national security?" Goss asked.

Clinton's terror failures are too numerous and damaging to recount here but Bill Clinton was the quintessential dhimmi. He allowed AL QAEDA CELLS - INCLUDING THE 9/11 CELL to OPERATE IN THE USA ignored the World Trade Center bombings of '93, ignored the Cole, the embassy bombings and handed Israel over to the most barbaric terrorist of the late twentieth century, Yassar Arafat.
    and that's just for starters.

  • Get all the facts, As if the botched with North Korea, building a nuclear reactor, wasn’t enough, allegations are now being made that This influence is Ginormous. It's the media elites, the alphabets, the LLL, Hollywood, to quote Ike - instead of the the "Military Industrial Complex", the real enemy is "the Media/Entertainment Industrial Complex".

Plagiarist. He plagiarized somebody else's life story, claiming it as his own. He plagiarized a speech from British Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock.

A barrage of revelations by the press contributed to Biden's withdrawal from a presidential race: a serious plagiarism incident involving Biden during his law school years; the senator's boastful exaggerations of his academic record at a New Hampshire campaign event; and the discovery of other quotations in Biden's speeches pilfered from past Democratic politicians.
The Carter White House during the disasters of the Sandinista takeover of Nicaragua, the energy crisis and stagflation, the Iranian revolution and hostage crisis, and the invasion of Afghanistan. Not backing the Shah of Iran in 1979, our close ally in the Middle East, resulted in the take over by Radical Islamic Fundamentalist Ayatollah Khomeini which brings us to where we are today with Iran.

Carter befriended North Korea during the Clinton administration, appeasing the communist regime and giving it cover for its nuclear weapons program

  • Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, two leftwing cub/pitbull reporters at the Wahington Post, intent on bringing down President Nixon.
And they did. After being exposed for covering for his people (not guilty of the break in mind you), Nixon resigned.

Imagine if Nixon had been a democrat. Would that ever have happened? The shenanigans of Democrat Presidents going back to JFK's stolen election are wildly known (don't even get me started on Bill).

What made this left wing assault on America so damaging is the subsequent road America went down. Had it not been for Watergate, America- leery and distrusting of the GOP after Nixon's resignation - would never have elected a Democrat, an unknown peanut farmer to the office of the President. A man so out of his league, a man so incapable of the office of the President, that we are still suffering from his ineptitude.

Imagine if Reagan had been President when the leader of one of our greatest allies in the Middle East, Iran, called upon the President for help. Imagine the course of history, if you will, if we had backed the Shah of Iran. Imagine what a different world this would be.

According to many Iranians, Carter practically pushed out the Shah and gave Iran to the Ayatollah Khomeini (much the way he relinguished control of the Panama Canal).
In a treatise titled, "Some People Push Back," written after the attacks, Churchill asserted the 3,000 people killed at the World Trade Center worked for "the mighty engine of profit" but chose to ignore their role. "True enough, they were civilians of a sort," he wrote.

"But innocent? Gimme a break." Churchill went on to describe the World Trade Center victims as "little Eichmanns," a reference to Adolph Eichmann, who carried out Hitler's plan to exterminate Europe's Jews during World War II.

Soar, eat ether, see what has never been seen; depart, be lost, but climb. But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends - Please give me some good advice in your next letter.

I promise not to follow it. Where you used to be, there is a hole in the world, which I find myself constantly walking around in the daytime, and falling into at night. I miss you like hell.

Edna St. Vincent Millay, Letters, 1952
God, I can push the grass apart and lay my finger on Thy heart. Edna I know I am but summer to your heart, and not the full four seasons of the year If I love you Wednesday, What is that to you?

I do not love you Thursday - so much is true. Not truth, but faith, it is that keeps the world alive. What the customer demands is last year's model, cheaper.

To find out what the customer needs you have to understand what the customer is doing as well as he understands it. Then you build what he needs and you educate him to the fact that he needs it.

All beautiful and splendid things, Blue waves whitened on a cliff, Soaring fires that sways and sings, And children's faces looking up, Life has Loveliness to sell, Music like a curve of Gold, Scent of pinetrees in the rain, Eyes that Love you, arms that hold, And for your spirit's still delight, Spend all you have for loveliness, It is envy that makes a Communist, Nazi, or Moslem Terrorist. It is the fear of being envied that makes a liberal.
Liberalism is not a political philosophy or coherent set of beliefs.

It is a psychological strategy to avoid being envied.

All are based on the primitive fear of the envious Evil Eye.
Islam, including the biography of Mohammed and the text of the Koran, was invented in the centuries after the Arab Conquest as a religious rationale for Arab imperialism.
"Mohammed" is not a name, it is a title meaning The Praised One.

His real name was Ubu'l Kassim and he did not come from Mecca. He was a bandit chieftain from what is now southern Jordan.
I am a lead pencil — the ordinary wooden pencil familiar to all boys and girls and adults who can read and write.

Writing is both my vocation and my avocation; that’s all I do.
You may wonder why I should write a genealogy. Well, to begin with, my story is interesting.

And, next, I am a mystery-more so than a tree or a sunset or even a flash of lightning. But, sadly, I am taken for granted by those who use me, as if I were a mere incident and without background. This supercilious attitude relegates me to the level of the commonplace.

This is a species of the grievous error in which mankind cannot too long persist without peril. For, as a wise man observed, “We are perishing for want of wonder, not for want of wonders.”
I, Pencil, simple though I appear to be, merit your wonder and awe; a claim I shall attempt to prove.

In fact, if you can understand me — no, that’s too much to ask of anyone — if you can become aware of the miraculousness which I symbolize, you can help save the freedom mankind is so unhappily losing. I have a profound lesson to teach. And I can teach this lesson better than can an automobile or an aeroplane or a mechanical dishwasher because-well, because I am seemingly so simple.

Simple? Yet, not a single person on the face of this earth knows how to make me. This sounds fantastic, doesn’t it?

Especially when it is realised that there are about one and one-half billion of my kind produced in the USA. each year. Pick me up and look me over.

What do you see? Not much meets the eye — there’s some wood, lacquer, the printed labelling, graphite lead, a bit of metal, and an eraser. Just as you cannot trace your family tree back very far, so is it impossible for me to name and explain all my antecedents.

But I would like to suggest enough of them to impress upon you the richness and complexity of my background.
My family tree begins with what in fact is a tree, a cedar of straight grain that grows in Northern California and Oregon. Now contemplate all the saws and trucks and rope and the countless other gear used in harvesting and carting the cedar logs to the railroad siding.

Think of all the persons and the numberless skills that went into their fabrication: the mining of ore, the making of steel and its refinement into saws, axes motors; the growing of hemp and bringing it through all the states to heavy and strong rope; the logging camps with their beds and mess halls the cookery and the raising of all the foods. Why, untold thousands of persons had a hand in every cup of coffee the loggers drink!
The logs are shipped to a mill in San Leandro, California.

Can you imagine the individuals who make flat cars and rails and railroad engines and who construct and install the communication systems incidental thereto? These legions among my antecedents.
Consider the millwork in San Leandro.

The cedar logs are cut into small, pencil-length slats less than one-fourth of an inch in thickness. These are kiln dried and then tinted for the same reason women put rouge on their faces. People prefer that I look pretty, not a pallid white.

The slats are waxed and kiln dried again. How many skills went into the making of the tint and the kilns, into supplying the heat, the light and power, the belts, motors, and all the other things a mill requires? Sweepers in the mill among my ancestors?

Yes, and included are the men who poured the concrete for the dam of a Pacific Gas Electric Company hydroplant which supplies the mill’s power!
Don’t overlook the ancestors present and distant who have a hand in transporting sixty carloads of slats across the nation from California to Wilkes-Barre!
Once in the pencil factory — $4,000,000 in machinery and building, all capital accumulated by thrifty and saving parents of mine — each slat is given eight grooves by a complex machine, after which another machine lays leads in every other slat, applies glue, and places another slat atop — a lead sandwich, so to speak.

Seven brothers and I are mechanically carved from this “wood-clinched” sandwich.
My “lead” itself — it contains no lead at all — is complex. The graphite is mined in Ceylon.

Consider these miners and those who make their many tools and the makers of the paper sacks in which the graphite is shipped and those who make the string that ties the sacks and those who put them aboard ships and those who make the ships. Even the lighthouse keepers along the way assisted in my birth — and the harbour pilots.
The graphite is mixed with clay from Mississippi in which ammonium hydroxide is used in the refining process.

Then wetting agents are added such as sulfonated tallow — animal fats chemically reacted with sulphuric acid. After passing through numerous machines, the mixture finally appears as endless extrusions — as from a sausage grinder — cut to size, dried, and baked for several hours at 1,850 degrees Fahrenheit. To increase their strength and smoothness the leads are then treated with a hot mixture which includes candelilla wax from Mexico, paraffin wax, and hydrogenated natural fats.

My cedar receives six coats of lacquer. Do you know all of the ingredients of lacquer? Who would think that the growers of castor beans and the refiners of castor oil are a part of it?

They are. Why, even the processes by which the lacquer is made, a beautiful yellow, involves the skills of more persons than one can enumerate!

P> Observe the labelling. That’s a film formed by applying heat to carbon black mixed with resins. How do you make resins and what, pray, is carbon black?

My bit of metal — the ferrule — is brass. Think of all the persons who mine zinc and copper and those who have the skills to make shiny sheet brass from these products of nature. Those black rings on my ferrule are black nickel.

What is black nickel and how is it applied? The complete story of why the centre of my ferrule has no black nickel on it would take pages to explain.
Then there is my crowning glory, inelegantly referred to in the trade as “the plug,” the part man uses to erase the errors he makes with me.

An ingredient called “factice” is what does the erasing. It is a rubber-like product made by reacting rape seed oil from the Dutch East Indies with sulphur chloride. Rubber, contrary to the common notion, is only for binding purposes.

Then, too, there are numerous vulcanizing and accelerating agents. The pumice comes from Italy, and the pigment which gives “the plug” its colour is cadmium sulphide.
Does anyone wish to challenge my earlier assertion that no single person on the face of this earth knows how to make me?

Actually, millions of human beings have had a hand in my creation, no one of whom even knows more than a very few of the others. Now, you may say that I go too far in relating the picker of a coffee berry in far off Brazil and food growers elsewhere to my creation; that this is an extreme position. I shall stand by my claim.

There isn’t a single person in all these millions, including the president of the pencil company, who contributes more than a tiny, infinitesimal bit of know-how. From the standpoint of know-how the only difference between the miner of graphite in Ceylon and the logger in Oregon is in the type of know-how. Neither the miner nor the logger can be dispensed with any more than can the chemist at the factory or the worker in the oil field-paraffin being a by-product of petroleum.

Here is an astounding fact: Neither the worker in the oil field nor the chemist nor the digger of graphite or clay nor any who mans or makes the ships or trains or trucks nor the one who runs the machine that does the knurling on my bit of metal nor the president of the company performs his singular task because he wants me. Each one wants me less, perhaps, than does a child in the in first grade. Indeed, there are some among this vast multitude who never saw a pencil nor would they know how to use one.

Their motivation is other than me. Perhaps it is something like this: Each of these millions sees that he can thus exchange his tiny know-how for the goods and services he needs or wants. I may or may not be among these items.

There is a fact still more astounding: The absence of a master mind, of anyone dictating or forcibly directing these countless actions which bring me into being. No trace of such a person can be found. Instead, we find the Invisible Hand at work.

This is the mystery to which I earlier referred.
It has been said that “only God can make a tree.” Why do we agree with this?

Isn’t it because we realise that we ourselves could not make one? Indeed, can we even describe a tree? We cannot, except in superficial terms.

We can say, for instance, that a certain molecular configuration manifests itself as a tree. But what mind is there among men that could even record, let alone direct, the constant changes in molecules that transpire in the life span of a tree? Such a feat is utterly unthinkable!

I, Pencil, am a complex combination of miracles: a tree, zinc, copper, graphite, and so on. But to these miracles which manifest themselves in Nature an even more extraordinary miracle has been added: the configuration of creative human energies-millions of tiny know-hows configurating naturally and spontaneously in response to human necessity and desire and in the absence of any human masterminding! Since only God can make a tree, I insist that only God could make me.

Man can no more direct these millions of know-hows to bring me into being than he can put molecules together to create a tree.
The above is what I meant when writing, “If you can become aware of the miraculousness which I symbolise, you can help save the freedom mankind is unhappily losing.” For, if one is aware that these know-hows will naturally, yes, automatically, arrange themselves into creative and productive patterns in response to human necessity and demand — that is, in the absence of governmental or any other coercive masterminding — then one will possess an absolutely essential ingredient for freedom: a faith in free men.

Freedom is impossible without this faith.
Once a government has had a monopoly of a creative activity such, for instance, as the delivery of the mails, most individuals will believe that the mails could not be efficiently delivered by men acting freely. And here is the reason: Each one acknowledges that he himself doesn’t know how to do all the things incident to mail delivery.

He also recognises that no other individual could do it. These assumptions are correct. No individual possesses enough know-how to perform a nation’s mail delivery any more than any individual possesses enough know-how to make a pencil.

Now, in the absence of a faith in free men — in the unawareness that millions of tiny know-hows would naturally and miraculously form and cooperate to satisfy this necessity — the individual cannot help but reach the erroneous conclusion that mail can be delivered only by governmental “masterminding.”
If I, Pencil, were the only item that could offer testimony on what men can accomplish when free to try, then those with little faith would have a fair case. However, there is testimony, galore; it’s all about us and on every hand.

Mail delivery is exceedingly simple when compared, for instance, to the making of an automobile or a calculating machine or a grain combine or a milling machine or to tens of thousands of other things. Delivery? Why, in this area where men have been left free to try, they deliver the human voice around the world in less than one second; they deliver an event visually and in motion to any person’s home when it is happening; they deliver 150 passengers from Seattle to Baltimore in less than four hours; they deliver gas from Texas to one’s range or furnace in New York at unbelievably low rates and without subsidy; they deliver each four pounds of oil from the Persian Gulf to our Eastern Seaboard — halfway, around the world — for less money than the governments charges for delivering a one-ounce letter across the street!

The lesson I have to teach is this: Leave all creative energies uninhibited. Merely organise society to act in harmony with this lesson. Let society’s legal apparatus remove all obstacles the best it can.

Permit these creative know-hows freely to flow. Have faith that free men will respond to the Invisible Hand. This faith will be confirmed.

I, Pencil, seemingly simple though I am, offer the miracle of my creation as testimony that this is a practical faith, as practical as the sun, the rain, a cedar tree, the good earth.
