So the NY Post ran (requires registration now!! grrr)
"The strain was first identified a few weeks ago by Vice Records label manager Adam Shore, who derided what he called the newly created "indie-yuppie establishment" .

"In other words, you must be an active, contributing member of society who considers your iTunes library an extension of yourself and who turns up for work at 10 a.m. - though you may be hung over from .

..
We are in the last 4 days of The Tank's existence on 42nd Street.

After this Saturday night we close up shop, and begin moving out so that The Man can bulldoze the entire block sometime in early June.
We are excited about our summer home, The Tank at Chashama on W37th Street, but for now we are focused on squeezing every last drop of goodness out of the home that has been so very good to us for the last two years.
Please come by sometime this week and say goodbye.

Sit in the courtyard, have a beer, walk around our creepy, dank basement, comment on how sticky the floors are and how ragged the couches have become, or just catch a really amazing show and help fund our future endevours. We've got three amazing nights worth drawing your
attention to.
BBQ @ 6pm, bands throughout the night with:

More to . Team Sleep is Chino Moreno (the singer) from ' side project.
"This CD has been talked about for years, and has been squeduled for release so many times over the last 4 years that some thought it would never come out.

After an album of demos leaked onto the internet years ago, people realised how brilliant this would be if these demos were finilized. But what was rapidly becoming a dream to interested fans finally became a reality this year, when its final release date was set, and Team Sleep finally released their self-titled debut album." -
The Deftones headlined Roseland last time they were in NYC.

You can see @ Knitting Factory on Wed. May 25th, 2005. The first show was announced and sold out long ago, so it's a good thing .

the lack of classic skater bands like and (Two of my favorite bands at one point in my life) on the soundtrack for (skate board movie) . ("Anyway, you probably know that they're turning the brilliant documentary, Dogtown Z-Boys, on the early skateboarding scene into a shitty looking teen flick, Lords of Dogtown, with Mischa Barton.").

He then .
It just so happens that D.R.

I. WILL be appearing on some upcoming soundtracks, one of which happens to be skater related:
"In case ya didn't see or hear, D.R.

I. has a song on the new ' ' video game from Eidos Entertainment. Very kool game!

And probably the best wrestling game and soundtrack ever."
"We are also expecting to have a song on the new 'Tony Hawk Underground' video game, and a new surfer movie called 'Bruce the Movie'."
Speaking of soundtracks, I'll take this opportunity to finally on the new Six Feet Under soundtrack (new Arcade Fire Interpol, Death Cab, etc.

..)
The new Stars Wars movie ( ) came out today, but 's been out for weeks.

Here's (of the soundtrack). Have you seen the movie? Is it good?

It's supposed to be, but I'm having trouble believing it's possible after the last two.
Maybe will have a good soundtrack.

Thunderbirds Are Now!

| Justamustache
"There is a certain joy to be derived from the sheer energy alone of Justamustache. Like chowing down on your favorite sugar-coated cereal on Saturday morning and watching a constant stream of poorly dubbed Japanese cartoons, this thing bounces off the walls demanding your attention." - (5/10) ( )
"And if you're thinking it, you're right -- it's not fair for a male critic to put the burden of feminism on a young band just because they're chicks who sing from "a woman's perspective".

" (huh who what?) - (6/10) ( )
On Wednesday May 11th, 2005 I happened to be in the Union Square area of NYC around 6 PM, so I stopped by Virgin Records to catch the in-store performance by Brooklyn's . (I missed the )
"In 2001, Benny Lowe (vocals, guitar), Tim Wagner (keyboards), Gabe Moon (drums) and Rafe Terrizzi (bass, keyboards, vocals) collaborated to form a 70’s inspired future-rock ensemble.

Pulling influence from their various musical backgrounds as well as their collaborative influences of 70’s glam rock and 80’s dance music, 33hz was able to forge a sound that is reminiscent of their inspiration of Chic, Steely Dan, Prince and Michael Jackson."
Their came out on April 26th. You can , and if you're in NYC you can see them live @ Rothko Friday night (May 20th, 2005)
"Defying the age-old tradition which says that freaky people who mellow over time have to put on suits and go to work for The Man, Japan's Boredoms have followed their own path, from anally-obsessed noise monsters to tribal-drumming hippies.

"
And they're playing some shows...

"Live Boredoms shows these days carry on the rhythmic vibe with three drummers (Yoshimi, ATR, and Yojiro) backing up eternal frontman Eye Yamataka."
05-25 New York City, NY - Bowery Ballroom
Jim Rourke (who's ) opens the sold out Bowery show in NYC this Wednesday. According to someone seeking a ticket to the show via a duel and .

..
"Prior to the Boredom's show there will be a concrete poetry reading and pedal effects jam session at Thurston Moore's loft.

I can bring one, and only ONE of you proles with me (in exchange for two tickets of course). Several luminaries will be in attendance, Lou Reed and Arto Lindsay (so sick of seeing those two), LaMonte Young's older, wiser, brother Phineas, semiotician Gilberto Egreyes, and that one creepy experimental filmmaker who always stares at his fingernail beds." :-)
Insound says that "Of all the artists in Japan's thriving noise-music community, the Boredoms undoubtedly had the most fun.

" And Insound is where (the new album on VICE).
VICE is where you can ("On this record, two lengthy tracks manage a paradoxical blending of peaceful waves of sound with intense, churning rhythmic moments.")
has a special voice because it makes me laugh no matter what he says.

I just have to imagine him reading his latest e-mail update (which isn't hard becacuse he often reads letters on stage as part of his act) and I start cracking up.
He just updated his website with if you haven't heard/seen him yet. Then continue reading for his latest news and tour dates (including some with the Hold Steady).

DEAR FRIENDS, FANS, AND BYSTANDERS…
Hi. It’s me, comedian and website mogul Eugene Mirman. I’ve come with news!

(Feel free to pass this news on, especially those of you who are connectors.) If you would like to be removed from this list, it’s very easy. Just click on the link at the bottom.

(Be careful — there are two links — one removes you from this list, and the other calls an ex and tells them you still love them.) These e-mails will be sent rarely. Thanks and enjoy…
I have updated my website and added new songs, videos, and wonders.

Go to and see.
I will be appearing this summer for the month of August in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
I am doing a national tour in late MAY and JUNE.

Come by or let your friends in those cities know about the shows. (Look below for details.)
My debut CD of standup, with a bonus DVD of four short films.

You can in stores, online (Amazon.com, etc), or download it from iTunes. Here’s a few nice things people said about it:
“We couldn’t stop laughing (so hard we were crying.

)”
“Eugene Mirman is the funniest man on the planet. That’s not true. But he is really f**king funny.

I didn't go to any of the BTS shows, but did make it to last night (two thumbs up). Here's what they're saying..

.
"Now, there's inebriated, there's drunk, there's wasted, and then there was this girl - hovering in that "How is it possible that she's still standing upright?" zone.

"
"They just don't make them like built to spill anymore. so good at irving last night."
"Last night stood out instantly when the band came out five strong - two extra guitarists instead of just one, the first time I'd seen that.

"
"Together they walloped the crowd with their bass-thumping sound. Even the pink-haired mohawked guy upfront was dancing all over."
"An incredible show.

I mean really, really fantastic. I've seen some pretty great shows recently, but this one was enjoyable straight through."

.." Maximo Park On March 9th, 2005 after hearing they were playing their first U.

S. show ever at Rothko in NYC on March 15th. I did go to the show, but never wrote a word about it until now.

The Rothko show was dubbed a pre-SXSW pep rally and and were DJing in cheerleading outfits. As took the stage, the cheerleaders cheered, "When I say Maximo. You say Park.

When I say Maximo, etc...

). The house was full to over-capacity. The band took the stage and said something about their excellent introduction to American Culture (referring to the cheer), and of course something about how happy they were to be there.

I stayed for most of their set. Honestly, I got bored. It seemed at that moment that the whole British dance-rock-new-wave-revival-whatever-you-feel-like-calling-it thing was officially tired (it's a feeling others get when they think of the Killers and the Bravery I think).

Jeddeth , but agreed that Maximo Park sounded like the rest of the pack. He points out Coolfer's " " post.
I did like opener a lot though.

Music For Robots .
From NYC Maximo Park headed to Austin, Texas where they played the located in the house of blogger . I'm sure they played more shows in Texas too.

Since then the hype has been building. They are/were . They .

They .
I'll give them another try. I still need to listen to the album.

. What do you think?
with Eugene Mirman Bobby Tisdale (and he was actually really funny, which was a relief)
Last night, (ane he even posted a picture of my pants!

" "Saw Chris Rock tonight at the Nine Inch Nails show at Hammerstein Ballroom. He was rockin' out and singing along. Also saw shiny-headed former MTV VJ Matt Pinfield there, but does he count as a celebrity?

"
"Last night at the Fischerspooner show at the Canal Room, who walks up to the VIP table next to me but David Byrne. I almost passed out. He looked great, silver hair all spiky and cool, all-black outfit, attractive brunette with him who didn't seem to have fake breasts or a fake tan.

The hipsters all ignored him- not sure if that means they didn't recognize him or that they were just too fucking indie rock to acknowledge his presence. I hate hipsters."
Not , but I also heard that David Bowie was at NIN.

. Here are some reviews from across the Internet..

.
"This show was perfect. Perfect venue (dark, dank, low-ceilinged basement), perfect audience (sardine-packed math rockers and tight-pants-hardcore kids), perfect length (30 minutes), perfect temperature (tropical), perfect smell (body odor + beer), perfect band.

"
"Okay so these guys were fucking awesome, really good live show, because they play like its the last song for every song"
"Before an audience that could not have been over 50 heads, TAN! plied open our mouths and shoved down ear-splitting hooks, well-placed synth beeps and blips, and one of the most entertaining stage shows I’ve seen at the Ottobar."
"They were pretty energetic, with echoes of Pixies, new wave(via the cool keyboards), and maybe just a bit of the Detroit garage rock aesthetic.

One thing I realized about Sneaky Dees during the Thunderbirds Are Now! set was how spring-y the floor is in the venue."
"All of the guys in the band go nuts, but the keyboardist / vocalist Scott Allen goes completely bonkers.

He went into the crowd a few times and did the spastic dance against the crowd. It was awesome."
"They’ll probably play in a larger place, to more people, then.

Tonight though, they’ve managed to remind me what live music should be, to make me feel that Music itself is doing just fine, and I can’t wait for more people to feel this way.
