John Powell to attend the International Film Music Conference in Ubeda, Spain, in July

Seven-time ASCAP winner and two-time BAFTA and World Soundtrack Awards nominee John Powell has announced his intention to participate in the forthcoming International Film Music Conference that will take place in U beda (Spain) this July.
The British-born composer will join other distinguished guests such as Academy Award nominee John Debney (The Passion of the Christ) who is also the Honorary President of this third edition, BAFTA nominee David Arnold (Casino Royale), 2007 Academy Award nominee Javier Navarrete (Pan's Labyrinth) and 2006 European Soundtrack Council Award recipient Pascal Gaigne (DarkBlueAlmostBlack).

Born in London in 1963, John Powell is currently living in Los Angeles. It was through his collaborations with composer Hans Zimmer (Gladiator) that John Powell first gained recognition. Director John Woo provided his big break with Face Off.

and since then, Powell has grown to become one of the most respected composers in Hollywood thanks to films like Antz, Shrek, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown and X-Men: The Last Stand.
John Powell is currently under the spotlight for his score to Happy Feet; a score that wisely combines electronics with orchestra and choir. It also earned him his second nomination for the Anthony Asquish Award of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts for Best Achievement in Film Scoring.


International Film Music Conference - City of U beda. The International Film Music Conference - City of U beda will celebrate its third conference from 19 to 22 July 2007 in U beda, Spain. Organised by The BSOSpirit Society, it has the support of the City Hall of U beda and other sponsors.

To this date, the symposium has become one of the most memorable gatherings for film music enthusiasts around the world. As it has been the case on previous occasions, hundreds of fans, composers and journalists are expected gather in U beda this summer to enjoy the symphonic concert as well as the many sessions scheduled.
