Alexandra Pelosi doesn't like to say she's a "lapsed" Catholic. Because when she does, her mom, recently elected House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, tends to take it as a "failure that she couldn't keep me in the church." That position looks especially bad lately, after the elder Pelosi stressed her devout Catholicism during swearing-in ceremonies this month.
So despite 12 years of Catholic education in San Francisco and four more at a Jesuit university, Alexandra, a 36-year-old documentary filmmaker, prefers to say that Catholicism "didn't stick.

In just 6-1/2 minutes, Nicholas Zitzmann went from being just another Utah software engineer to the country's butt of all jokes. He sang on "American Idol.
" The 27-year-old with the awkward demeanor of Napoleon Dynamite _ minus the curly blond coif _ stepped on the "Idol" audition stage Wednesday night and belted out his rendition of the Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody." The sixth season of the blockbuster Fox reality show began this week with wildly popular audition episodes that showcase the good, the bad and the harmonically ugly.

Folk music caught fire in the late 1950s and early '60s, for many fans filling a gap in popular music that existed between Elvis Presley getting drafted into the Army and the Beatles invading America.
And for a while, folk musicians such as the Weavers, the Kingston Trio, Joan Baez, Peter, Paul Mary and Bob Dylan regularly performed before large audiences and scored top-selling albums.
