Gwen Stefani insists, amidst contrary reports, that there is no bad blood between her and Madonna. Not only that, Gwen freely admitted that she has used the pop superstar as a role model throughout her career. The singer relayed in a cell phone interview that the two have much in common, including Italian-American heritage and British husbands.
She told Elle magazine, It is weird that we have all of these similarities. Madonna s had us over for dinner and stuff, and she s always been very nice to me. She added, I remember telling Madonna I was going to do an 80s dance record and she rolled her eyes, because I think when you ve lived through it like she did, she s like, Whatever.
But a lot of my influence came from her early work, like directly, like a Xerox. Looking at a picture of the two, there sure are some striking similarities!
