A bonus to the evening will be the chance to hear guest artists and two WHS alumni who are now active professional musicians.
Keith Davis has a master s of music degree in clarinet performance from Texas Christian University and has played principal clarinet and lead alto saxophone for several Dallas/Fort Worth area performing groups. He was recently a semi-finalist in the Kingsville Competition and the International Clarinet Association s Young Artist Competition. He teaches private lessons in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
New this year to the Jazz Caf/ will be a silent auction during the evening for nearly 3,000 worth of unique prizes. Among the prizes are tickets to many activities such as the NASCAR Busch 300 series race April 14 at Texas Motor Speedway, Dallas Symphony Orchestra concerts, Dallas Summer Musicals production of Camelot, Schlitterbahn waterpark in New Braunfels, NRH2O waterpark in North Richland Hills, miniature golf at Adventureland in Dallas, Billy Bob s Texas, Disneyland, Mesquite Rodeo, Scarborough Renaissance Festival, Dallas Zoo, Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and more. Other prizes include items or services from Texas Rangers baseball, Dallas Stars hockey, Waxahachie Veterinary Clinic, JCPenney, One Fine Day, Waxahachie Country Club, Holmes Photographic Art of Corsicana, Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce and more.
Funds raised by the Band Boosters at the Jazz Caf/ and auction will go to support the music education program in grades six-12.
The WHS jazz orchestra is even offering itself as a prize to play at an event for the winner (restrictions apply).
