For weeks I was not called a Commie on any of our blogs, not because I was making an effort not to offend anyone, but because there were other things to blog about that did not reflect the current political climate. Of course we had the holidays; we lost the great James Brown; a corporate exec got accused of molesting a child; a preacher got caught in a strip club and a male reggae star's entourage was beating up on a female reggae star. So with one blog per day, it just wasn't enough to talk about the political climate, we did not even do a blog on all the drama surrounding Saddam's execution.
Yesterday though, I knew I had to do a tribute blog to the King of Peace himself, Dr. Martin Luther King. Even though it was a football playoff day and I did not get home from a show until 5AM, I figured I would still wake up in time to write a blog, grab a bite and then enjoy the Football games (The Clash of the Colts and the Bears is still on track, in the word of Evil Evie, YAY!
!).
Luckily for me, I did not need to write a tribute, a great tribute was already put together and sent to me by Paz.
It was a video of a Dr. King's speech, which I hope you have all listened already, if not, I would recommend you listen to it, if nothing else to see how relevant the King's words still are today.
So I decided to share the video and what would you know, the commie comments and messages started coming back.
I always laugh when I read them. Well sometimes I don't laugh, I just sing a Bob Marley to myself "See the hypocrites them a galong de". I call them hypocrites because the people making these comments are always some far right (Is it just me or does it seems like the farther they are to the right, the farther they are from being right?

King's speech? Isn't Christianity a form of Socialism? And can one disagree that the bible teaches socialism?
For example, I don't see a big difference between the two quotes below.

To me the term Commie is as bad as Nazi. In fact strictly speaking communism was responsible for millions more deaths, in Russia and China than were ever killed by Nazis - so its not really a badge to wear with pride.

If you wish to gain an unbiased view on Socialism then take up a book and study it, do not base your ideas on Capitalist propaganda of Red Armies.
The Soviet union didn't hold this value of empowering the workforce, instead it disintegrated and twisted it so a single leader had it all for himself. Lenin even admitted himself that his Marx ideas were diluted with imperialistic values.

SToli is $20-30/bottle and bus rides are a $1-2 bux and the minimum wage is STILL NOT OVER $6/hr.
.. Or how about and when you as a minimum wage family have a kid that has an asthma attack that requires hospitalization to the tune of the ER fee of around $1K!

Nothing is wrong with communism.
It could never happen on earth as it is today because there are so many greedy people with little to no morals, but in theory it would be great if it were to come about. When I think of the afterlife, I think of communism. That is the way I believe we were created to live.
If we could feed and care for everyone on this planet we could be equals and the fighting would decrease, if not stop completely. I agree that those who are calling others "commies" are probably just ignorant. I think it stems back to the cold war.
