A new DVD, OK Computer: Classic Album Intellectual on September 19. The 53-minute film reviews Radiohead s 1997 masterpiece track by track. Contributors include writer/journalist/Radiohead: A Guide to Their Music author Mark Paytress, ex-MOJO editor Barney Hoskyns, Radiohead biographer Alex Ogg, and less-than-forthright of us, and what better way to get some lovin than to listen to a mix carefully compiled by some of your favorite artists?

The folks Lovers, the Pixies, Bj o rk and LCD Soundsystem, among many others. real treat, however, is that 30 members of the store s famous clientele, including some of the artists featured, handpicked the tracks on the two-disc Soundsystem s James Murphy, Primal Scream s Bobby Gillespie, and Sire Records co-founder Seymour Stein. Each curator will also contribute liner notes to the package.

Micah P. Hinson Hits The Opera Circuit Abilene, Texas native had a slight hiccup between his 2004 debut Micah P. Hinson and the Gospel of Progress and his upcoming follow-up Micah P.

Hinson and the Opera Circuit, due October 10 on . In a classic case of it s all fun and games until somebody gets their back poked out , an over-excited friend punched Hinson in the back, a playful prank which over the next few weeks developed into an unrelenting injury marked by debilitating pain. After toughing out a European tour aided by becoming addicted to Codeine, Soma, Xanax, and Neurontin, Hinson returned to America and immediately underwent back surgery to mend the injury.

During the slow recovery period following the operation is when Hinson recorded Opera Circuit, inviting friends to come to Abilene and help out. Eric Bachmann (of Archers of Loaf and Crooked Fingers) assembled the string and horn arrangements while Gospel of Progress vet H. Da Massa performed harmonica.

The album doesn t contain any diatribes railing against friends sucker-punching friends in the back, but it wouldn t be unwarranted if it did.
This exclusive new track from British three-piece was recently recorded by Giles Hatton of the Earlies at Manchester s Airtight studios. It s an explosive live version of Transition from the band s debut album, A Call and Response, out now on in the UK.

According to the label, the session emerged from the band s desire to capture their sound in some rawer, live versions of the tracks and also because Giles had a couple of spare days and thought it d be fun. The result was a one-day live session that included all but two or three of the tracks that the band has ever recorded. The band is considering releasing the tracks as an online EP this summer, but they have yet to solidify these plans.

The Longcut s latest single, , came out last week, backed by a Four Tet remix. Their next single, Tried Tested Method is due out in September along with a Go! Team remix.
