Now for the 'giant-killers'

IT still seems somewhat strange to think that come the end of the season Yeovil Town could, if results go accordingly, be bypassing the once-mighty Leeds United in the Football League pyramid.
It is still somewhat strange to think of Yeovil Town as a Football League club in any case. It only seems like yesterday that Yeovil were plying their trade in non-league environs.

And it is still somewhat strange to hear Nottingham Forest, one-time double European Cup winners, being described as FA Cup giant-killers.' Now Yeovil, ironically the greatest and most feared of all cup giant-killers, travel to Forest hoping to continue their recent cracking spell of form and cement further their own promotion credentials.
But Yeovil, who have now gone six games unbeaten stemming back to the defeat at Rotherham United in early December, will be confident of catching Forest off-guard - especially as Colin Calderwood's men have a mouth-watering FA Cup Fourth Round tie at Chelsea to look forward to which could cloud their league focus.

Yeovil boss Russell Slade, although delighted at the Glovers' excellent 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town on Friday night in front of the Sky cameras, is now looking forward to the clash at Forest this Saturday.
But Yeovil will go into the game without the services of Nathan Jones and the excellent Chris Cohen who will be serving one-match suspensions.
Slade told the club's official website: "We have one or two problems in terms of suspensions to Chrissie and Nathan, so we will have to readjust again.

"Winning any football match does your confidence the power of good, so from a confidence point of view the lads will be fine.
"But so will Forest as they have just beaten Charlton, so it will be a good test for my team."
There is no doubting, however, that Yeovil have come into the right kind of form at the right time of the season - the all-important Christmas and New Year period - and the win over Huddersfield perfectly illustrated that point.

Slade said: "We created an enormous amount of chances against Huddersfield and we could have doubled the half-time scoreline, to be honest. But I was delighted with some of the football we played.
"In the second-half it obviously had to change in that Huddersfield have good personnel and a good manager, and they weren't going to tolerate that for another 45 minutes.

"They made it difficult for us, but the damage had already been done, fortunately for us, and we gained three much-needed points."
Slade was delighted with his strikers Leon Best, Lee Morris and Marcus Stewart.
"The movement of Morris and Stewart was very clever and together with the strength and power of Best made for a good combination.

"So I was pleased with the way they performed, but I was pleased with the whole team performance to be fair."
Yeovil were without injured skipper Terry Skiverton and fellow defender Martin Cranie who had returned to Southampton.
But Scott Guyett was brought into the starting line-up as was Andy Lindegaard at right-back, making his first appearance for several months following injury.

And neither let the side down.
Yeovil's performance against Huddersfield saw Nathan Jones, Leon Best and Lee Morris all named in the Football League One Team of the Week.
