SIR Elton John tonight opened his 12th Australian tour showing no signs of decline after four decades of one of music¿s greatest showmen.
The 59-year-old was greeted at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre by a standing ovation from the 15,000-strong crowd and he had the fans in the palm of his hand throughout the two and a half hour long concert.
The concert opened with a blistering version of Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding from the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album.

Fans were treated to a smorgasbord of Elton's greatest hits from a career spanning 35 years.
The old favourites were mixed with songs from his latest album, The Captain and the Kid.
Sir Elton, who was knighted in 1998 for his services to music and fundraising for AIDS charities, was clearly enjoying himself.

After each song, he walked round the stage accepting the plaudits of the fans.
The Elton John show continues in Sydney on Wednesday and Friday nights before moving to Melbourne, Wellington, NZ, Adelaide and Perth.
