Industrial automation leader, , offers improved safety provision for machine operators with the escape manual release facility for the Allen-Bradley Guardmaster TLS-GD2 safety interlock switch. The escape release provides an easily accessible means of escape for an operator within a guarded area, should a machine be switched on accidentally, while its guard door is closed.
Mounted on the underside of the TLS-GD2 switch, the escape release is accessible within a walk-in guarded area.
In an emergency, it is actuated via a large push-button, which stops the machine and manually unlocks the TLS-GD2 actuator. The machine remains stopped until the button is released, the actuator is locked and the safety circuit re-set. The machine can then be re-started.
The position of the TLS-GD2 escape means it is freely accessible and guarding does not have to be specially designed to accommodate it. By offering four possible actuator entry positions and three possible conduit entries, it is easily integrated into many types of guarding systems. A stainless steel actuator entry protects the switch against poor guard alignment and wear.
The escape has onboard locked/unlocked status indication and optional manual key release functions, and also provides the high holding force in its class, at 2000N.
The TLS-GD2 locks a machine guard door until an electrical signal, from a safety PLC or Allen-Bradley Guardmaster relay timer, for example, allows release. In total, the TLS-GD2 can offer five available output contacts to monitor guard position, lock engagement, and solenoid condition, in either dual- or single-channel safety control systems.
The Allen-Bradley Guardmaster TLS-GD2 escape release from Rockwell Automation is available in three control voltages: 24V AC/DC, 110 and 230V AC. In applications that require additional integrity, the safety switch can be used in conjunction with safety PLCs, relay timers and monitoring relays.
