Billy Davies, who was Pearson's manager at Motherwell, tried to lure the Scottish international to Derby in the summer and Pearson admitted that he could move to the English Championship club. He said: 'Obviously, I have been linked with Derby and my old manager. I would need to see how things go.
I am at the age where I need to be playing games. I have said that all along and the manager knows that as well.' While it must be frustrating for Pearson, from a supporter's point of view it is never good to see players make their feelings public.
One of the problems is that managers want a strong bench, but players are often not happy being part of that bench. Perhaps Pearson should step back and consider whether he would ever experience nights like Tuesday at Derby..
