Havana, Dec 18 (Prensa Latina) John Lennon, one of the most universal singers of all times, was honored Monday with a giant canvas by artist Waldo Saavedra, installed on the facade of the Charles Chaplin Theater in Havana. The image of the singer of “Let It Be” appeared to attract Cubans paying tribute to Lennon yesterday, 26 years after his murder, in an act attended by Culture Minister Abel Prieto and Cuban Cinema Institute president Omar Gonzalez. Saavedra explained the work is a monumental three dimensional piece worked in oil on the canvas with a palette knife in 48 separate pieces assembled like a puzzle.

Lennon was recalled with a two-hour concert organized by the Cuban Chapter of the Network in Defense of Humanity, at which the music groups Sintesis, Aceituna sin hueso, Mezcla, Viento solar, Los Kents and Haila performed. Press Release
