The Love Album is a compilation of 11 "classic love songs" - all cover versions, of course. But if there are two things boy bands are famous for, it's love songs and cover versions.
So this is a perfect showcase for the talents of Kian, Mark, Nicky and Shane.
Though it's called The Love Album, the CD contains more songs about that after-the-love-is-gone feeling than songs proclaiming the wonder of love Lionel Richie's Easy isn't exactly the kind of thing one plays on a first date. Neither is Air Supply's All Out of Love, which here is absolutely ruined by the mediocre Delta Goodrem.
She should stick to soap acting.
The boys infuse these songs with their inimitable brand of upbeat sentimentality, which is the big problem with this album. They never succeed in bringing across that post-break-up torture.
The album is well put together, and the boys are in top form. But you're left with the feeling that you'd rather just listen to the original.
