If the only prayer you say in your life is thank you, that would suffice. Meister Eckhart
(yes, I was suckered into buying it by Greg Brady for my birthday last year!) My poor daughter is being forced to listen to it along with me right now.

(I made her listen to The Streak and Disco Duck.)
I was such an incredibly emotional adolescent and the songs of the 70s were often emotional stories. These were some of my favorites when I was probably 11 to about 14 (the age my kids are at now).

  • The Raspberries - Go All the Way
  • Jigsaw - Sky High
  • Harry Chapin - Cat s in the Cradle (this one is so much more appropriate for me now)
  • Jefferson Starship - Miracles
  • Don McLean - American Pie
  • Walter Egan - Magnet Steel
  • Terry Jacks - Seasons in the Sun
  • Nick Gilder - Hot Child in the City
  • Cher - Gypsies, Tramps Thieves (I really believed I could sing like Cher until my father laughed at me.)
  • Bobby Bloom - Montego Bay
  • Johnny Nash - I Can See Clearly Now
  • Paul Revere the Raiders - Indian Reservation
  • Tom Jones - She s a Lady (I loved Tom Jones and even got to see him in concert with my parents.)
  • Three Dog Night - Black and White (I saw them in concert a few years ago at Lake Mission Viejo.

    )

  • Bo Donaldson - Billy Don t be a Hero

By the time I was 15, I was more into the alternative rock and hard rock scene than the pop rock scene. (I never got into the disco scene.) I had every Led Zeppelin album there was.

I loved Rush, Pink Floyd, the Boomtown Rats, the Cars, the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, the Talking Heads. But I was mostly into music that was before my time - lots of stuff from the 1960s like the Doors, Jimi Hendrix and old Rolling Stones Stuff. My absolute favorite was the Moody Blues (who I ve seen in concert at least 10 times).
