INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Peanut butter is an effective bait to lure mice in your house to traps, the sales manager of a U.S.
dealer of pest-control supplies says.
But most people do not use enough traps, says Ken Martin of DoYourOwnPestControl.com.
"If you re not starting with a dozen traps, you re not serious about catching mice," he says.
Another problem is, "a lot of people are afraid of these traps," Martin says. "They re scared they re going to whack their fingers.
"
People brave enough to use the traps should place them wherever they see mouse droppings -- often, behind appliances -- and along the perimeter where the wall meets the floor, The Indianapolis Star reports.
"You want them perpendicular to the wall, with the baited end closest to the wall," Martin says.
While peanut butter works great, another great bait is a cotton ball with a few drops of vanilla flavoring, he says.
