What Does Rihanna Think of the Beyonce Comparisons? Also... New Joints From Mya and Nas (SOHH Soulful)

What Does Rihanna Think of the Beyonce Comparisons? Also..

. New Joints From Mya and Nas

When I first interviewed Rihanna, she was still giddy about all the Beyonce comparisons.
Beyonce… I get a lot of comparisons to her and that’s amazing.

There is no artist to be better compared to than her. I adore her as an artist,” says Rihanna.
Well aside from weave, wardrobe, close proximity to Jay Z and aspirations to be a bigger pop star than Janet, I'd like to add another similarity or burgeoning similarity.

OVEREXPOSURE. Is Rihanna next in line for overexposure?
Rihanna has scored a few big deals lately that will ensure that her duck bill will be in your face for quite some time.

She scored an LG phone endorsement. Dolce Gabanna will be providing costumes for her tour. She is the new face of CoverGirl (fuck Caridee) and lastly I just recently read that the success of A Girl Like Me led Def Jam to re-release it in the new year and of course she'll be dropping another brand new project next year.

WHAT THE FUCK!
That smells like when Bey had an album, a Loreal deal, a Pepsi deal and a movie on the horizon. And now the American public almost cringes at the mention of the name Beyonce.

Rihanna's 4th single is "Break It Off" featuring Sean Paul. Since the blacks didn't buy Rihanna's CD, .
But Ri Ri ain't the only one with a big agenda in 2007.

(I'd love to see her walk the streets in this!)
It seems Mya putting her Liberation on hold was a good thing. Those couple singles that were floating around last year weren't anyone's favorite.

She teamed with Lil Wayne for her rumored first single. It's called "Lock U Down."
Mary J.

Blige's Reflections hits stores tomorrow. Since you are all serious Mary devotees up in this piece I am sure you all probably got a homemade Mary best of cd anyways. Here is one of the new tracks.

It's #3 on the CD. The tracklisting is in the comment section.
Lastly, Nas, whom I venture to say is the KING OF NEW YORK has some dope ass tracks on his cd.

Chrisette Michele who appears on Jay Z's "Lost Ones" saved her best for Nas' "Can't Forget About You" which is the best use of the Nat King Cole "Unforgettable " sample I've ever heard. PageBlack don't you agree?
This Friday, and every Friday until Christmas I'll be selecting a lucky winner to receive a courtesty of Farrah, Neosha, Felisha and Fallon.

...

do it do it do it do it. To enter the give a way just email us here at SOHHSOULFUL@sohh.com.

One lucky winner will be selected each Friday until Christmas. And even if your ass don't want the shit..

. you can re-gift it.
Last week's winner asked that her real name or the name she uses in the comment section not be mentioned.

But know that she is happy as fuck to be receiving the Bliss Spa Package courtesy of Cherish.
I don't understand why the phrase "Hip Hop is dead" offended southern artist. I'm from NY and I don't blame the south.

I've been feeling that way for a minute. There's lots of things that contributed to hip hop's death. BEEF is perhaps the biggest culprit and everyone is guilty of that.

Next is the commercialization of criminal activity which took the FUN out of the music and had every artist doing their best gangster impersonation even though ENTERTAINMENT provided them their biggest pay day. Also, the crab in a barrel mentality that has plagued blacks long before hip hip. And lastly, the reliance on one gimmick after another whether it be shootings, arrests, or even death.

They've all run their course and no longer entice the consumer.
It's a bit premature for Southern rappers to talk reckless though. The recent Derrty awards in Atlanta is a good example of how things may not always be what they seem.

The Ozone awards weren't much better. Those award shows catered to Southern artist and fans specifically and took place in the South. To call them both an embarrassment is being kind.

Let's stop the infighting and realize that DIVERSITY is what gave hip hop life.
Everyone shouldn't talk about the same topic in their music anyway. That gets old real quick.

I cosign all of this.

so what was really the point of the Rihanna blog?? all i notice was hate coming from your direction!

! maybe u was waiting for her to throw hate B's way when asked about the comparison..

.but do what the hell the rest of the "hip hop" media is doing make headlines about a rapper dissing another rapper. i think he only ones who really care about that shit is the media cause we as fans are tired of re-reading the same shit!

! rihanna get your paper and stay humble, glad you didn't fall into the media bullshit!!

Shut up.
Hip Hop is Dead will be a classic from God's Son. It is dead and the South killed it.

Eff a shoulder lean.
Posted by: Xclusive BK Dude at December 11, 2006 02:13 AM
If y'all ain't licked OutKast's ass so much and tout them as the exception or the greatest hip hop group then that would have left little room for them "other" fools.
I thought that Re-release was for Germany Soulful.

Not in the US.
Posted by: rere at December 11, 2006 08:15 AM
Maybe. Not sure.

But it's still being re-released. Still can buy it here in the US. Thanks for the update though.

Mya always leaves me speechless...

.
Nas album is fucking amazing..

.. makes Jays album sound like Jim Jones'.

The Kelis joint ???

? Quadraplegic ..

...

.
I can see how a lot of people are taking this hip hop for dead thing serious..

.. if the shoe fits nigga !

!!
@IHADNO I see we up early this morning.

You killing me boo. LMAO.
Posted by: LE'COCCO at December 11, 2006 08:33 AM
yeah.

.. the rooster crows for me at 530 am.

As far as Rihanna goes...

. I don't really care for her at all. Nothing against her but her voice sounds like a kazoo and she just seems boring.

Def jam knows what they are doing my marketing her to crackers because the niggers ain't feeling her.
Hey SOHH Soulman! Just wanted to say hi.

Rihanna and Beyonce remind me of that movie Single White Female except they are black girls instead.
Also, thanks for sending me that Mary. I loved her performance of her new song at the American Music Awards.

Posted by: js at December 11, 2006 08:56 AM
Damn...

Good Morning JS-
Let's keep 'me allegedly sending you the new Mary' to ourselves...

LOL!
How have you been?
Posted by: js at December 11, 2006 09:09 AM
I have been chillin'.

Ready for Xmas...

the usual.
Well damn. I had to walk back out and check the sign over the door to make sure I was in the right room, LOL.

Soulful, what it do?
I couldnt stand Rihanna when she first came out, but she has grown on me. I havent seen the signs of overesposure yet, but if she has all those things on tap that you spoke of, its a good possibility she will be the next name we roll our eyes at.

Nas? Sheesh. Im gonna need an IV pretty soon.

The rehab wont take me, so maybe I need to be in the middle of the prayer circle today, LOL.
IN 2006 talented means pretty.
Posted by: LE'COCCO at December 11, 2006 09:18 AM
Oh come on now.

.. pretty is a talent.

THE SOUTH DID NOT KILL HIP HOP!
If anything it was the labels giving any and everybody a record deal. It is also NYC's fault.

'Cause if NYC thought they owned hip hop then they fell asleep at the wheel. So whatever happened, happened.
If y'all ain't licked OutKast's ass so much and tout them as the exception or the greatest hip hop group then that would have left little room for them "other" fools.

Posted by: SOHH Soul Man at December 11, 2006 08:14 AM
SOHH Soul Man you just jumped to #2 on SOHH for me. Sorry Gyant is regional but its all love. Thats what Southern cats been saying for so long.

We don't have a problem when people say hip hop is dead. We have a problem when people try to say we killed it.
Ah shit!

Is this Soulful or NYC? Oh okay um in the right room..

.lol
Fantasia need a stylist - that's all um saying but the CD is banging outta control. Her live shit is OFFICIAL - but the look gotta good.

Nas I heard a few tracks and the shit is ONE OF THE BEST!
MJB - You go girl. I need the new tracks (hint hint) b/c I own every other CD she has - I gotta have this one too - dayum!

I like the video too.
Rhianna - okay girl!
Mya - Okay we will see!

What up Soulful Crew and Crewettes? I gotta work it is Madhouse Monday!
Keep it Soulful people!

Mary didi it with this video. It is very good and classy.
Rihanna has some goods songs on her album.

I know she ain't no singing sensation but she can hold a note and is more talented than some cats out there.
Beyonce calm down give us time to breath but I still love you.
Michelle Williams I am waiting for that voice.

Fanatasia's album is the best this year. Second is Robin Thicke and third is Janet Jackson.
What the hell?

???

Is this SOHH NYC???

C'mon ya'll we cant have that up in herrr'e!
Whats good SoulFolks? (the real SoulFolks)
Whut it do?

??
For the first time.

..I don't have shit to say.

Ug.
HIP HOP IS DEAD ID GOING TO STOP THE GAME IN IT'S TRACKS.
NAS IS THE KING ON NY!

!!!

!
whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

!!!

!!!

!!!

Posted by: Messmergrad at December 11, 2006 09:49 AM
A. His video and single are being Blacklisted. Neither BET or MTV will play it(I assume its due to the chorus) cause MTV didn't even world premier it.

He's catchin heavy backlash from signin wit Jay and saying Hip Hop is dead.
There are hot songs that people are hatin on from him simply of the fact they're caught up in the North vs South crap and takin his album title too personally.
He desperately needs to do something fast about his lack of airplay right now.

Especially his video
cause MTV = sales hate to say it but its true. White people buy records he needs to figure out how to get his video into heavier rotation before his album drops
Hey ya'll..

what up to the real people!
Uhmm as far as Rhiana goes, she is a bad ass Beyonce knock off..

. I think she lacks the stage presence one needs to be a huge star in the industry. She seems to rely mostly on her looks and her team around her to succeed.

Rere (whoever that is) made a good point earlier when he said that people are tired of fake ass artist. I think that finally people are beginning to stop believing people's hype and start really checking for people with real talent..

Let's take a look at Mary J and Janet for a minute. Both are legends. I know that Janet has been doing her thing for 20 years, but in the past 10 years her success has dewindled, because even though Janet can freak you down at a concert, she really aint delivering the voice and in the long run when you cant dance no more you have to have something to fall back on.

Mary on the other hand brings it everytime she gets on stage without all the gimmicks and what not. When she 60 she'll be able to sit in a chair and sing her heart out and still give the crowd what they want..

..Personally I think Mary will be around longer than Janet.

..cause its not based on a marketing scheme!

I was reading an article this weekend that talked about how the older 25-45 crowd are the one's buying CD's that is why people like Jay, Mary, even Beyonce can maintain there sales because older folks support there artist. These young cats are getting praise for selling ONE MILLION copies, I mean Britney and Christina use to sell that in weeks. I mean look at it now.

Rihanna is like 191 on the billboard charts and has barely sold 1 million where as Beyonce is at 1.5 and will probaly be sitting on 2 million by 07. The market is changing.

People are tired of supporting folks who can't sing and don't have talent and record sales are showing that. I don't care how many smoke and mirror you give if you can't stand and sing you will be forgotten. If you are pretty enough to model then model.

One thing I see postive for Rihanna is that Jay is doing Jay and is busy playing arm candy to Beyonce right now. I mean when is the last time he was in the office. Oct, we no he was on tour, November well no he was promoting his album, Dec well no he has been laid up with B.

If anyone can make her a star it is LA Reid and that is who she needs working with her if she wants to be known for her talent. There are plenty light skin girls with green eyes. I mean she got no support for her singles.

They have pretty much flopped her last two. And soulful why is BEyonce putting out Upgrade U??

? Why is she paying for he own videos when she has sold 2.4 million world wide already.

What is the word at Sony outside of the layoffs???

Posted by: rere at December 11, 2006 10:06 AM
yeah but we also grew up in a era where you went to store to buy records.
if you grew up on being able to download what ever you wanted or being able to borrow a CD and burn it or save it to your music library you'd if you already don't buy far less music than you do know.
Downloading is a gift and a curse.

Its even killin bootleggers. You don't see as many of em CD's like you use to unless their mixtapes. Rap and R B is being hit the hardest.

Hate to say this but until its controlled. The music will continue to be water'd to target that select group of people that will still go to the store and buy the album.
Fantasia is on Regis and Kelly.

I am getting kinda pissed at the way she's been looking. If this is what a 'hood boy' does for her..

..
Posted by: SOHH Soul Man at December 11, 2006 09:24 AM
she been looking a hot ass mess, and hate that hair style.

Co-Sign!

He ain't doing no bullshit collabos with "hot for the moment" artist just to be down. He's murdering the DJ on the first single so I am pretty sure he can careless about spins.
Posted by: ihadnochoice at December 11, 2006 11:16 AM
He is doing exactly what he is suppose to do with album that is titled "Hip Hop is Dead" Personally I dont think he is really concerned about numbers.

.he trying to spread a message!
B.

Alot of immature minds are takin his album title real personal. Particularly the younger generation from the south.
Come on thats a bunch of B.

S. Have you been to SOHH NYC? Its just as bad from the northern cats.

Sorry to disturb the peace of SOHH Soulful. The hate has migrated over here today somehow.
Yes its official.

lol I finally got my name in lights! I feel apart of the "in crowd" now. lol
I thought this was SOHH NYC too.

Jeez. WTF??

Excuse the double post. "refresh" is acting a little janky this morning.
Whats up folks.

...

Rihanna...

.Who?(nuff said) Somebody said a few weeks ago that a heavy girl needs to come out with a voice that will put the music world on its ear.

.. and by the looks of it we need one real bad
Mya.

..Im trying to think if i really matters if she puts out another album.

..
Nas album.

..I'm getting it and I'm from the south.

..thats all I have to say about it.

All that other shit doesnt matter.
LOL..

.Hey Triss (and everybody else)!
Not much going on as usual.

My hubby came home Saturday night and he's hanging in there so I'm good.
He's not out of the woods yet but we have a nurse to come in 3 times a week cause they still got him hooked up to IV's and shit..

.but he's still here and that's all that matters right now.
Posted by: 2rttn4u at December 11, 2006 11:42 AM
Praise God!

That's good to hear...

continue to stay strong...

.everything will be straight!
Although Ding Jr does nothing for me, she is a better singer than Ciara and Christina Millian.

I know not saying much, but when the bar is so low, why not give those in the middle a chance? But anyway, it seems like Hov has a never ending supply of pretty light skin girls with subpar singing talent stashed in his drawer. Rihanna will most likely meet the same fate Christina Millian and Tierra Marie did.

Posted by: 0731 at December 11, 2006 11:36 AM
Ima disagree and say she already surpassed musically everything both of them have done put together. She wont be another CM or Teairra Mari, but she aint gon be another Beyonce either.
2rttn!

What the deal is?
What up yall, damn, I see everybody done rolled up in this piece while I was out here ackin busy. LOL.

Waddup Soulman! Yes, I agree the same is hot! Still Dreaming featuring Kanye is hot track on there too.

In my opinion Nas is one of the few hip hop artist to remain consistent.
Ok..

so did anybody catch Tasia's stretch marks (on her boobs) on the 106 Park sofa this past Friday?
As for Rihanna..

do we really need another Beyonce? Damn!
One question.

..why am I listening to MJ when he was little singing Give love on Christmas day?

I though he was a witness? lol
Just buggin' hey yall!!

Posted by: 2rttn4u at December 11, 2006 11:28 AM
girl they was LOL, crazy ass Jehovahs sorry, what's up girl.
I dont thinks so..

.Tierra Marie didnt have that machine around her like Rhianna does..

. Tierra Marie wasn't worth the investment and Christina Millian will prolly switch over to acting or some bullshit. They will try to market Rhianna as the head.

.I mean face for young black girls!
Posted by: Trissa at December 11, 2006 11:42 AM
But young black girls don't look up to Rhianna.

She is the female equivalent to Akon. You know the blacks couldn't care less for these two. Rhianna, just like the rest of the girls in hov drawer, seem expendable.

What's good baby? I have been KILIING John Legend! I love that CD.

Of the 16 I have in the ride, that has been the one I am stuck on.
Hey girl, nah, I just got here but this shit is still acting up. I got triple posts and shit!

LOL
Ok..so did anybody catch Tasia's stretch marks (on her boobs) on the 106 Park sofa this past Friday?

Posted by: Page Black at December 11, 2006 11:47 AM
That shit looked like a damn road map on her chest! lol
Rhianna, just like the rest of the girls in hov drawer, seem expendable.
Posted by: 0731 at December 11, 2006 11:50 AM
So are you saying that Beyonce is expendable too.

Do you think that he adds value to her or vice versa!
Posted by: Trissa at December 11, 2006 11:56 AM
Posted by: Trissa at December 11, 2006 11:49 AM
Trissa..

.she was practically wearing a bra on the sofa and 4real peeped it too. If you saw the show you would have seen it too.

Yes..giving birth might have caused the stretch marks but havign a child didnt cause her to wear what she did revealing the stretch marks?

You think Tasia is the only mother in the business who has stretch marks? Or the only fool not smart enough to put some make-up on them puppies?
Im mad you was looking that damn hard!

Plus Im sure she breast feed, that gives you stretch marks!
Posted by: Trissa at December 11, 2006 11:49 AM
girl you didn't have to look hard at all it was real noticeble, I was like why her stylist or somebody didn't tell her LOL, and I breast feed twice and don't have stretch marks and girl if I did I wouldn't be advertising it like that ok LOL, love her but she need a new stylist.
Beyonce is not in Hov's drawer, she doesn't work for def jam.

But its funny how his playthings resemble her.
Posted by: 0731 at December 11, 2006 12:00 PM
Tierra Marie dont look like her..

but she did try to have her style.
Personally, I think Jay-z is looking for the next Beyonce..

.but he cant find her.
The latter.

..but they really need to fire her stylist!

If she don't have one, they need to get her the best in the business with NO expense spared! lol
Posted by: 2rttn4u at December 11, 2006 12:04 PM
LMAO, co-sign again, I been thinking this since I saw that horeable video Hood Boy. and don't even talk about the hair with that piece hanging down in the front, why Tasia why?

cause they make carbon copies of people these days...

.
Plus Rhianna aint the next Beyonce..

.one would have to sing for that too happen. Rhianna cant sing the national anthem LIVE, Rhianna cant ripped the Grammy's like Beyonce did when sung DIL, Rhianna cant do a Tina Turner impression and make that shit beliveable.

.
People can compare all day..

.but it comes down to vocal ability and most of these young gals cant sing!
Posted by: Trissa at December 11, 2006 12:01 PM

I really was...

but she started! LOL!
I'm good Dig.

.how u been. U know it takes Ding!

to get me up in here talking shit.
Afternoon all!!

!
hmmmmmmmmmmmm..

.I don't mind Rhianna; I mean, she's not the first pop tart and she won't be the last lol. My 7 year old niece can dance to her music and that's all that matters lol.

Mya? I thought she'd embarked on her new career as a go-to backshot for King and Smooth lol..

.I keed, I keed..

. I really liked the vibe she had going with Fallin, so I'll look forward to whatever she has going on next.
As far as the 'Tasia.

..I don't know what she's doing with her style these days, but I like her the same- stretch marks and all lol.

I'm good Dig..how u been.

U know it takes Ding! to get me up in here talking shit.

You hear Jay-Z, here comes WillyJ.
Say Ding! and the Page turns Black, LOL.

Its like Candyman out this muhfucka LOL.
Trissa..

.repeat after me..

.VOCALS AINT EVERYTHING!
BeYAWNCE knows this or else she would not be trying to stay in everybody's damn face so much for fear she and her yodeling will be forgotten.

Posted by: Page Black at December 11, 2006 12:10 PM
I have to agree in this business today if your gone to long your forgotten, but you do have to give people a break from you or you face overexposure which Beyonce is facing right now, now Usher was very smart to take a break after Confessions now everyones ready for him again, people like Janet were good at not over exposing themselves in the past.
Funny how..

.
It took 20 years for a new Janet to surface(Ciara) but only took under 3 years for someone to already be positioned as the new Beyonce.
Hhhmmmmm the game is getting tough!

Posted by: Page Black at December 11, 2006 11:56 AM
Paula Abdul looked like she was gonna give Janet a run for her money in them years between rhythym nation and the Janet album. We see who had the staying power. What Beyonce has going for her is that she is the only one right now who can really sing and dance.

.. well really sing and perform.

She really hasn't been challenged yet.
but I like her the same- stretch marks and all lol.
Posted by: jaedalaurez at December 11, 2006 12:16 PM
awwready!

OMG she looks horrible! Now she was already ugly as hell, now she is really a hot ass mess! LOL
Posted by: 2rttn4u at December 11, 2006 12:17 PM
but I'd still hit it!

:0)
sober too!
right after she signs an agreement not to make any eye contract.
LOL!

I'm mad you see the patterns up on here! LOL!
Truth is I love Beyonce.

..but some act like she the best thing since sliced bread.

You would think Trissa was in church with all that praising. And the truth is..

you would probably find better voices sittin on the choir.
Hello All..

.I'm new to this room and was passing through and couldn't help but to add my two cents.
Think of it like.

Nas' new cd to these young folks is like asking them to do a research paper without the internet. It's to much work for them to listen to the lyrical content and be able to think metaphors, similes and all. To much work for their stagnant brain cells.

Hip-Hop's demise, began the day biggie day in Bedstuy when the while folks saw the power of the urban market. Prior to that political officials were boycotting it. Then we had Mr.

Coon Diddy et al. to contribute to it's demise as he fell into the role of being the spokesperson for all things urban.
So, in comes the cookie cutter rnb songstress (not)who must be light, thin, with green eyes (as someone pointed out earlier)
In comes the rapper whose resume must come equipped with either having a police record or beef.

We had the power and we gave it to them and now we must marinate in our shit as we watch Hip-Hop die and all we can hope for is another crack/poverty epidemic where another style of music can be born because it's all down hill from here folks.
And the truth is..

you would probably find better voices sittin on the choir.
Posted by: Page Black at December 11, 2006 12:26 PM
I have to say, I agree. I wish Tarralyn Ramsey was more of an "industry fit" because that chick can blow the doors off the white house.

well really sing and perform. She really hasn't been challenged yet.
Posted by: 0731 at December 11, 2006 12:19 PM
I agree.

You hear that Trissa?
You would think Trissa was in church with all that praising. And the truth is.

.you would probably find better voices sittin on the choir.
Posted by: Page Black at December 11, 2006 12:26 PM
You know what.

.me and you is gon fight..

.Bottom line aint no female singers out her that can hold Bey right now..

so ya'll can say what ya'll want but until someone steps up to the plate and takesover, Bey will remain the shit.. Now I do agree that after Dreamgirls she needs to take a break.

.let J-Hud, Kelly, Michelle, Maya and the rest do their singing thing..

.cause as long as Bey is in the limelight they aint gotta chance!
You know whats interesting.

.I have heard folks say R B is dead just the same way folks are now saying Hip hop is.
At the end of the day I think this is just the way one generation is choosing to deal with the change in time.

By saying their craft or music as they know it is now dead when the new blood comes in and introduces their spank on it.
Question? Are Pop heads sitting around saying Pop is dead?

If it weren't for the fact that J Hudson has a couple extra pounds on her, I think she could take Bey...

Posted by: 2rttn4u at December 11, 2006 12:26 PM
girl did you see the photos of the skinny Jennifer, she lost all that weight they showed her trainer and everything, I guess she gained weight for the part in Dreamgirls
You just know, you hear Puffy, you gon see Chevy.
Posted by: Dig at December 11, 2006 12:17 PM
Fuck Puffy. I hope a nigga drops a refridgerator on that nigga.

And when the people come clean his bitch ass up, the truck they scoop his biting ass up in, wrecks.
That was harsh.
I was just playing.

..almost.

Well we can talk about her about her no style having ass all day long but you notice...

nobody said the girl can't sang her ass off! lol
Posted by: 2rttn4u at December 11, 2006 12:23 PM
Oh you get no argument from me- I loves me some Fantasia- she was the only person I was EVER motivated to vote for on AI, so I'm not hating on her talent..

..just her wayward style lol.

'You hear Jay-Z, here comes WillyJ.'
Nigga whut?
Ha!

!!
No- because Pop absorbs whatever the latest trend is, and therefore never really gets old- it's "popular" to the new generation, and once that generation grows up, it's disposable and another pop group takes its place.

Posted by: jaedalaurez at December 11, 2006 12:42 PM
So pop heads who loved New Kids on The Block in the 80's were just as enamored by NSYNC in the 90's? I guess its hard to tell with Pop since the genre really isnt that old or doesnt have a definitive sound. Not to mention lately EVERYBODY produces pop.

I see your point though.
How bout them..

.Saints! (sorry CJP and Trissa)
Damn.

..Beyonce is the flavor dejour right now.

..ehhh.

..I'll pass.

...

sorry.
I've already been recruited to be there on X-mas. Until then, I will refrain from the debate.

What's good folks.
Oh shit..

.the site is up again!
That's what happens to alcoholics at Cheers, they didn't even know it was closed due to construction, just knew when it was time for a cold draft, nobody better not sit in my seat!

Yeah, I saw her on Entertainment Tonight and she said she gained like 20-30 pounds for the role. But they got her trainer afterwards to get backto her normal size (which wasn't skinny to begin with).
Posted by: 2rttn4u at December 11, 2006 12:46 PM
you right LOL, she just looked better then the big Jennifer in Dreamgirls.

Posted by: naj. at December 11, 2006 12:53 PM
Wifey making you go see Dreamgirls huh!
Man dem mutherfucking Cowboys almost made me have a damn temper tantrum.

.I had to fucking turn the channel in the 3rd quarter..

It gets painful to watch after awhile
Well, no- what I mean is, the people who loved New Kids grew up and out of it, but then their younger brothers and sisters loved NSYNC and Britney and grew out of it..and now my niece likes Rhianna and Hillary Duff.

So pop heads who loved New Kids on The Block in the 80's were just as enamored by NSYNC in the 90's?
Posted by: Page Black at December 11, 2006 12:52 PM
Thank you kindly for coming thru right on cue, LOL.
Jaeda: What the deal is?

Naj: Dont worry. Its for one night only LOL
Ok..

so my question you is then? Would the folks that liked NKOTB back in the 80's say that Pop is dead when they listen to the likes of Rihanna and Hilary Duff today?
Posted by: Page Black at December 11, 2006 01:12 PM
I don't think so, mostly because there's a certain grain of salt that seems to be taken with Pop music- most of the time people look at the pop music they liked and go "ugh- what were we thinking?

" as their musical tastes evolve and mature, so I don't think pop artists are held to the same standard as somebody in a specific genre.
I think it's pretty much the only genre where it's almost expected that you won't feel the same way about it later in life lol- you may feel a certain amount of nostalgia, but there's not really the expectation that it's supposed to last, hence the "disposable" factor.
oh noooooooo- I just go to see V and Frank lol.

..I'm not trying to have any job where clear heels or those horrible "ghetto gladiator" sandals are acceptable shoewearlol.

Girl you better stay outta Diva, too many "Money Mike's" be up in there, you might leave THERE with a new job LOL!

First off,
That is all that needs to be said about this topic. We can go on and on about what killed hip hop.

I say the biggest reason hip hop is dead is the the fans. How quick is somebody to say a song is hot?
As for Nas, already got the album pre-ordered.

I see him going gold in 2 weeks.
As for Rihanna, much success to her. To be honest, I don't see her career lasting longer than 3 more years.

Hmmm...
