EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in English and philosophy, University of Vermont. Juris doctor from Northeastern University School of Law
POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: Cape Elizabeth Town Council, November 2005 to present
ON THE ISSUES: Dill opposes referendum Question 1 on the state ballot, known as the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. She said TABOR would remove local control of education and public services.

While she believes the state's taxation system needs reform, she also thinks it should be done in a "creative and innovative" way.

While she believes the state sponsored DirigoChoice health insurance plan has problems, Dill said it also contains good ideas that should be built upon. She would favor a single-payer health care system, but is undecided whether it should be run by a private nonprofit group or by a governmental agency.

She said she supports aggressive environmental protection and exploration of alternative sources of energy.
PERSONAL: Married, two children
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in English and history from Mount Holyoke College. Juris doctor from the University of Maine School of Law
ON THE ISSUES: Duddy said revitalization of the state's economy is central to her campaign.

She wants to stem the tide of young people forced to leave the state to find gainful employment. Part of doing that, she said, is lowering taxes and making health insurance affordable for all.
She said she wants to protect school funding and make sure schools have the resources they need to offer excellent education to students.

Duddy said Maine -- and the nation, too -- need to work on becoming energy independent. She said she would work for improving environmental stewardship and increasing research and development of alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, ethanol and bio-fuel refineries to turn wood products into energy.
