To quote the immortal New York Dolls, who themselves us to remember even this."
Looking back on 2006, we'll remember Gnarls Barkley's omnipresent hit "Crazy." And try as we might to forget them, Daniel Powter's "Bad Ohio native John Legend took best new artist honors.

And how inducting Black Sabbath, as well as Blondie, Miles Davis, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the no-show Sex Pistols.
It was the year of "High School Musical," Disney's runaway pop smash. And the ever-popular Beatles, whose music was mashed up for a Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas.

And Jay-Z, who shocked absolutely nobody by coming out of retirement.
Ne-Yo, Panic! At the Disco, Yung Joc and other newcomers made their mark, while old-timers such as the Who, Barbra Streisand and Bob Seger made comebacks.

And "American Idol" refused to go away, crowning alleged soul singer Taylor Hicks as its latest champ.
last month, R B singer Gerald Levert and bluesman Robert The Rolling Stones had 2006's top-grossing tour, according to Billboard, although Mick Jagger Co. didn't make it here.

Instead, we'll remember the kick off the Tri-C JazzFest, the Flaming Lips' crazy August night in Cleveland and Akron.

"Welcome to the Black Parade," "Famous Last Words," songs dwelled on death, although the music and frontman (Rough Trade/Too Young to Die): Never heard of 'em?

Your loss! "I just want to sparkle for a moment," these newcomers sang, and sparkle they did on "Be My Grudge" and other jingle-jangle Britpop ditties.
