I was born in Rome, Italy, in December 1960. I have lived in Italy most of my life, except the five and a half years (1996-2001) I spent in Finland working as a university lecturer. My love affair with progressive rock dates back from my teenage years, when I first started listening to Italian prog bands (Banco, PFM, Le Orme.
..) on the radio, then was introduced to the English prog aristocracy by friends, some of whom were also musicians.
A few years later I started buying records seriously (I still keep my old vinyls and I have no intention whatsoever of parting from them!) and listening to radio stations specialising in all kinds of rock music, from prog to new wave to heavy metal. I also started going to gigs, both in Italy and abroad.
One of my fondest memories is seeing the original "The Wall" show at London Earl's Court in 1980. Then, after a longish pause due to repeated changes in my life, some years ago I took up with music once again. However, this time I decided to devote myself to the music of my teenage years, neglecting more recent offerings (with some notable exceptions) and completely disregarding any kind of musical fashion.
In fact, I can proudly claim I've never heard anything by Coldplay! I realise I'm quite unusual, being a woman in her forties who's heavily into prog and other rock genres which normally attract a largely male audience. However, I'm in the habit of doing what I like most, no matter what other people may think about it.
Apart from music, I'm very keen on learning foreign languages and love reading and researching fantasy literature - as a matter of fact, I'm a Tolkien buff and have written a few things about his work.
