Hello, My real name is Hernan. I am from Argentina, and I live In the United States. During my childhood and pre-teen life, I was completely oblivious of the great genre called Progressive Rock and was actually mildly interested in music at all.

I remember getting excited whenever a Dire Straits song was in the radio though. There were hundreds of LPs and CDs in my house but I never opened them. It is shocking that most of them are progressive rock albums and 70s classic rock ones: I never knew what I was missing.

My interest in music was born a while after I have taken a keyboard class at my school when I was 15 ...

at first I did not enjoy the class and only played the cliches (fur elise, hungarian dance, imagine, stairway to Heaven, etc), but it all changed when I was on vacation in the car, and my father has shown me 2 yes disks : Yessongs and The Yes Album. He told me 'can you play that with your keyboard?' and the music I was hearing was mindblowing .

. the beginning of that song felt like a movie soundtrack, but much more inspired ..

. it didn't feel like rock ..

. I could hear jazz too, and music I could not categorize at the time ..

. that song was 'yours is no disgrace' ..

. after hearing those two disks and liking some of the songs (I loathed Close to the Edge at the time) ..

I began slowly to listen the other Yes albums and finally, I tried to listen to the difficult ones. Satisfied, I began to play all my dad's discs one by one, and I found myself not wanting do do something without music on the background. I have became a music fan, and after buying a keyboard with midi programs .

.. I could download midi songs such as Space Dye Vest, Firth of Fifth, or Bohemian Rhapsody and spend the time necessary to learn them and show it to my keyboard class.

Eventually, I have found this website when looking for reviews for Magnification which I ended up buying. I was shocked at this community listing all prog albums that could ever exist, I smiled when I saw "Crucis - Kronologia " on the top 100 with a rating of about 4.80 .

. such an unknown brilliant band from my country is known and loved here, and I should recommend it to anyone in this site. I browsed through this site for long times, checking out what's that Mariah Carey thread of 100 pages, or downloading MP3 and discovering a wonderful band like the Flower Kings that I never knew it existed.

Eventually, I became a member and started reviewing any albums I own; I do not review my favourites or my least favourites only ...

I try to review any album and be generous and unbiased with my ratings, even if the albums may be from my favourite band (yes). I do NOT find the mean of the scores I put for each song. I estimate the mean score per minute rather than per song and also add points for coherence (concept albums get better scores if they are coherent) and originality.

A+ : A flawless, brilliant and absolute Masterpiece!!.

Less than 5 prog records are worthy of this score A : A Masterpiece of Progressive Rock that everyone should own. Extremely enjoyable music is on here. No prog collection is complete without these.

A- : A Masterpiece that is not as impressive as others. It is still essential in prog rock collections and contain brilliant music B+ : A brilliant album that is almost a masterpiece. Albums of these ratings are highly recommended and are of very high quality B- : An excellent album that has some flaws or lack of mindblowing music.

C+: A very good album that may be liked by many, but isn't impressive. Fans of the genre/band may find a lot to like about these albums. D+: An ok album.

Don't buy it unless you find it cheap or you are a big fan of the band. D-: An uninteresting or cringe-worthy album that is just not good at all. F: An embarrasing record.

Do not Buy!
