Gwen Stefani unveiled her new single, "Wind It Up," and officially confirmed that her second solo album would be out on December 5. Now Stefani has revealed more about The Sweet Escape, the follow-up to her smash hit Love, Angel, Music, Baby.
"This album is surprisingly different than the last one," Stefani said in a statement.

"I started recording it last year before [my son] Kingston was born and it's definitely evolved over the last year. The dance sound is very 'now.' It's modern.

.. not so retro.

"
As previously revealed, the album's genesis came from a handful of songs that were left over from the L,A,M,B recording sessions. Songs written with Linda Perry such as "Fine By You" and "Wonderful Life For Him," which MTV.com reports features Martin Gore of Depeche Mode on guitar, didn't make the cut for L,A,M,B but will appear on the new record.

Also on The Sweet Escape are "Parental Advisory" and "You Started It," which were also recorded a few years back.
However, half the album is made up of new tunes that were cut over the past year and a half, primarily with Pharrell Williams, who produced "Wind It Up." Stefani told KIIS/Los Angeles about the Sound Of Music sampling single yesterday, explaining that "I had my friend do a mash-up of The Sound Of Music with 'Wind It Up,' which we had just written for the first L.

A.M.B.

fashion show. It was always a dream of mine to put Sound Of Music to a beat, because it was my favorite movie. I just thought, 'Wow, that would be amazing.

' I literally cried, and I'm not exaggerating, when I heard the mash-up. And here we are, a year later, and it's the first single. Life is weird.

"
MTV reports that some of Gwen's other collaborators on The Sweet Escape include Akon, Swiss Beatz, Tim Rice-Oxley of Keane and naturally, her No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal. She also credits her mother Patti with some of the lyrics to the new tune "Orange County Girl."
Gwen's Harajuku Lovers Live DVD will also be released on December 5.
