Nelly Furtado confirmed as Grey Cup headliner

Nelly Furtado will perform at half time at the Grey Cup game in Winnipeg Nov. 19, event organizers confirmed Friday morning.

Furtado, a pop star who originally hails from Victoria, B.C., was reported in the Winnipeg Free Press earlier this month to be the star of the half-time spectacle, which featured American performers The Black Eyed Peas last year.

Canadian performers such as Shania Twain and Bryan Adams have also done half-time duties at the Grey Cup, as has Canadian band The Tragically Hip.
