BARBADOS - Bajan entertainer Magnet Man s big-screen debut as a film actor took place at the Bahamas International Film Festival at the famous Atlantis Theatre, on Paradise Island last weekend. The Bahamas event was a star studded affair which saw superstars such as Nicholas Cage and Sir Sean Connery attend.
As well as acting in the movie, Magnet Man also composed and produced the films title soundtrack which has been nominated for an award at the 2007 Barbados Music Awards.
The movie is Barbados first feature film and was written and directed by Bajan born Miguel Antonio Drayton who is now based in California, USA, and produced by an Australian Film Production Company from Sydney. Magnet Man also sang at the Film Festival with a full performance the night before the Festival World Premiere which included songs from the movie, along with hits from his 2006 BMA award nominated album Magnificent . On the final day of the festival Magnet Man was invited to be a panelist on the Film Music Panel where he was joined by some extremely talented experts including Jason Lampkin who works with well known Director/Producer Spike Lee of New York.
Plus James Dooley a top film score composer who worked on such major movies as The Da Vinci Code "Gladiator , Pirates of the Caribbean and Black Hawk Down".
